Stopped in Sheffield for a day on the way to Edinburgh Not sure if it was the weather or Reading Week The city center was very quiet ❤️ Spent the day wandering around the city 🚶‍♀️The Millennium Gallery ⏰: Tue–Sat 10am–5pm; Sun & public holidays 11am–4pm 🎫: Free Highly recommended for art lovers ⏬ 🚶‍♀️Sheffield Winter Garden ⏰: Mon–Sat 8am–8pm; Sun 8am–6pm 🎫: Free The largest greenhouse in the UK, with lots of greenery, a great place to relax ⏬ 🚶‍♀️Sheffield Cathedral ⏰: Mon–Fri 8:30am–5:30pm, Sat 9:30am–4pm, Sun 7:30am–5pm 🎫: Free Lucky enough to see the dreamy paper crane exhibition, like a fairyland ⏬ 🚶‍♀️University of Sheffield As a graduate, it felt like being back at the University of Melbourne ⏬ 🚶‍♀️Peace Garden An open-air park that used to be a church courtyard 🏨Accommodation: Novotel Sheffield Centre 🌟5 minutes' walk from the train station 🌟Supermarket downstairs, very convenient 🌟City center attractions within walking distance 🥩: Jimmy's Kitchen Turkish Kebab, Pic 9⃣️ Tastes great, no disappointments Hope to have time to visit Darcy Manor next time I'm in Sheffield

I visited on a quiet weekday afternoon, and the tranquility inside provided a peaceful contrast to the bustle of the city outside. The building itself is a fascinating patchwork of styles, reflecting its evolution over centuries. Parts of the structure date back to the 12th century, but you can also see impressive Gothic and contemporary features. The Lantern Tower, with its soaring stained glass, bathes the nave in colored light—one of the highlights of the visit. I was particularly moved by the Chapel of St George, a memorial to the York and Lancaster Regiment, and a solemn tribute to those who served in war. In the UK, every city seems to have a cathedral, and Sheffield Cathedral is one of them. It is located on the busiest shopping street in the city. It was built in 1850 and can be visited on the way out of the Winter Gardens. There is a souvenir shop at the entrance, no wonder I couldn't find the door at first. The church is free to visit and no reservation is required. The interior is beautifully decorated, and the sculptures, altars, and paintings are all amazing! The internal structure is truly unique. Its towering spire can be seen from a distance. There were local people gathering on the grass at the door. It is worth mentioning that this church was originally a parish church and was upgraded to a cathedral in 1914. What's more, it is one of five Grade I listed buildings in Sheffield. If you come every Sunday, there will be worship activities.
