Shayutang Village is located in Haiwei Town, Changjiang Li Autonomous County, Hainan Province. It is a traditional Li village nestled in the mountains and by the sea. The village is backed by rolling green mountains in the east and faces the Beibu Gulf in the west. The seawater is clear and the coastline is winding and picturesque. The coconut trees in the village, the Casuarina windbreak belt and the cactus community form a unique coastal ecological landscape. The colorful fishing boats moored in the fishing port and the drying fishing nets show a strong fishing style. As a relatively well-preserved Li village in western Hainan, the local houses retain the elements of boat-shaped houses, and the exterior walls of some buildings are decorated with traditional Li patterns. Villagers have made a living from fishing for generations. Every morning, fishermen can be seen returning to the port with their nets. Freshly caught seafood is sold to various places through the village market. In recent years, the village has relied on its ecological advantages to develop leisure tourism, launching experience projects such as catching shells at sea, camping on the beach, and watching the sunset at sea. Fishermen can taste special delicacies such as mackerel and sandworm porridge.
