Today is a day to remember. I went to Liubandeng in Shaxian Snack Culture City for breakfast and had loach rice noodles with red yeast rice and pickled vegetables. It was sour and spicy and quite delicious. I also ordered black rice, which was hard and salty, just the way I like it, so I finished it all. I was a bit greedy and ordered a portion of grass jelly, which had a minty taste but was too sweet. A hearty breakfast was necessary because I had to drive nearly 300 km to Changting to see the Hakka capital of Tingzhou Ancient City. I stopped at Shuimei Castle in Shaxian County along the way. It is a national cultural heritage site and is not commercialized, so there are few visitors. The castle is also a Hakka walled house, but it is more unique and distinctive. The second stop was Peitian Ancient Village, which is also a Hakka village. Interestingly, the houses here are not walled houses. They have upturned eaves, blue bricks, and flying eaves similar to those of Quanzhou dwellings, but with more rustic colors. Peitian is a quiet village, and the plum blossoms were already in bloom. I continued along X661 to Yunlong Bridge. The mountain road was difficult to drive, and the villages along the roadside were not very distinctive, just ordinary rural villages. Yunlong Bridge is a covered bridge with a Mazu Temple, ancient trees, and an open space next to it, resembling a dragon crossing the river. After taking photos, I navigated directly to the hotel I had booked in Changting. The navigation showed 68 km and an estimated time of 2 hours, so I followed it without thinking much. Oh, I was exhausted from driving. I crossed three mountains, went through a tunnel, and the road was bad, with either broken roadbeds or road construction. There were not many cars on the road, but there were many S-bends and hairpin bends. It took me more than 2 hours to get there. However, I enjoyed the journey. The tile roof and wooden doors and windows facing the courtyard of traditional Bai buildings must be properly treated to meet energy conservation requirements. Traditional wooden doors and windows cannot be airtight, and the tile roof is leaky and drafty. In winter, the hot air rises and escapes, and the room cannot be heated. Traditional old houses can only rely on electric blankets to maintain the temperature of the bed. We originally wanted to preserve the wooden structure of the Bai courtyard and chose aluminum-wood composite or pure wood window systems. However, our courtyard is in the core protection area, and cranes cannot enter to install the door and window systems weighing several tons. We had to choose broken bridge aluminum alloy + double glazing to ensure thermal insulation and soundproofing, but the facade is still a bit regrettable. After the wall and roof insulation was completed, we chose central air conditioning with good heating effect, and finally transformed the old house into a warm winter and cool summer house, and no electric blankets are needed in winter!

Taojin Mountain Scenic Area is located 3 km west of Sha County, Fujian Province, with an altitude of 501 meters and a total area of 6 square kilometers. This hotel just opened at the beginning of this year. I have stayed in other places before, also in Huazhu hotels, which are basically all-season hotels. The whole season is finally open in Sanming! We arrived at the hotel at around 3pm that day. The parking lot is next to the hotel and parking is free, which is super convenient. There was a tall and handsome boy at the front desk who helped me with my luggage. The girl at the front desk also greeted me warmly and arranged a room for me in advance. The service was really good. Warm tip: The hotel's laundry room is on the 5th floor and is also equipped with a dryer and washing machine. The washing machine is very smart, there is no need to add laundry detergent and disinfectant, the washing machine will add it automatically. Next door is the gym and breakfast room. I booked a room with a view. You can see the sunrise from the other side of the river. It's so beautiful. The night view is even more amazing. It’s not too comfortable to sit by the window and make tea at night. Speaking of breakfast, I really have to say that the breakfast in Jiji is really rich.
