Discovering the Charm of Shangjin Ancient City 🏯
#favouriteitinerary
During a past visit to Shangjin Ancient City, also known as Liuzhou City, I was captivated by its historical significance and scenic beauty. Located in Shangjin Town, northwest of Yunxi County, Hubei Province, this ancient city sits on the eastern bank of the Jinquan River and is famously referred to as the "Gateway of Qin and Chu" and "The Emperor's Ferry."
Exploring the Shangjin City Wall, one of China's longest city walls at about 12 meters high and stretching 8 kilometers, was impressive. Shangjin Ancient Street, the main commercial street, showcased Ming and Qing architectural styles and offered various local delicacies. Shangjin Lake, with its crystal-clear waters and lush greenery, provided an idyllic setting for leisurely walks.
Wearing comfortable shoes and being mindful of preserving the ancient buildings and artifacts is essential. Shangjin Ancient City's historical charm and cultural richness make it a must-visit destination. 🌿😊

Shangjin Ancient Town, also known as Shangjin Ancient City, was built in the fourth year of Chenghua in the Ming Dynasty, also known as Liuzhou City. The existing city was built in the seventh year of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty, located on the north side of the ruins of the ancient city of the Ming Dynasty.

It is one of the only four county-level ancient cities in the country and the only county-level ancient city in Hubei Province that is well preserved. Since the fourth year of Huangchu of Wei Wendi in the Three Kingdoms (223 AD), Shangjin first set up Pingyang County, it has a history of nearly 1800 years and is a must-contest place for the military in all dynasties.
