The Shanghai Public Security Museum, located on Ruijin South Road, is the first museum in China that focuses on public security. It records the history of the Shanghai police since its establishment in 1854, and contains a variety of criminal investigation materials, case photos, police supplies and other collections. It is worth bringing your children to learn more. What particularly attracts young people is the famous guns from all over the world, and even the guns used by celebrities such as Sun Yat-sen, which are worth seeing. The museum has seven floors, of which the first to fourth floors are the main exhibition halls, displaying all the regular exhibits. The first floor of the museum displays police cars from different eras, and there are three groups of sculptures reflecting public security content. The second floor is the Public Security History Museum, which introduces the historical evolution of the establishment of the police agency in Shanghai. You can see various police badges, police uniforms, medals and other exhibits, as well as wax figures of Indian police, British police and Chinese police in old Shanghai. The third floor is the Criminal Investigation Hall, Public Security Hall, Transportation Hall, and Prison Hall, which display pictures of many major murder cases. Visitors who may not be comfortable with this are advised to skip it directly. In addition, you can also see many confiscated crime tools and guns. The fourth floor is the Fire Department Hall, Equipment Hall, Heroes Hall, and Police Exchange Hall, which highlight the professional functions and external exchanges of various police types. The "World Famous Guns Exhibition" in the museum houses more than 200 guns, including rifles, submachine guns, machine guns made in more than a dozen countries such as the United States, Britain, Germany, Belgium, and Russia, as well as indirect-fire guns, knife guns, pen guns, and poison bullet guns used for special missions. The self-defense guns used by Mr. Sun Yat-sen are the treasures of the museum. In addition, you can also see the guns used by the old Shanghai Bund leaders Du Yuesheng and Huang Jinrong, which are also quite precious.
