Shanghai Gallery of Art - Through a Glass…
I love seeing art exhibits, so when this new (to me) art exhibit appeared on WeChat, I had to go and see.
Zheng Wenxin is the curator of this exhibit on the 3rd floor of Three on the Bund. It’s a free to visit exhibit but currently, Covid restrictions apply, and you need to register through WeChat to visit. It is small and quick to see all of the art work but it’s concept is rather interesting. At the entrance you can collect the background information on the artists and the works and why they have been included.
A good place to visit if you’re around The Bund and looking to escape the heat.

A short-term exchange to Oslo in 2011 had a profound impact on Zhao Bo's later creations. The vast starry sky, the magical and magnificent aurora, the breathtaking fjords, the lush spruces... all of these, once seemingly out of reach, suddenly became tangible. During this period, he also gained a new understanding and appreciation of his hometown in Northeast China. As a result, most of his paintings depict scenes that resemble both Northern Europe and Northeast China. It can be said that this is his imagined version of another North, a future polar region that is neither entirely Eastern nor Western.
Zhao Bo's 'Cold Wonderland' series was previously showcased in a group exhibition at SGA. Although it appears to depict an uninhabited land, it actually hints at the reality we live in or the future world that is about to come. Seeing it again this time, I like it even more.
Before the opening ceremony, I arrived at the gallery. The drinks were ready, and the guests were about to enter, but I chose to avoid the crowd and continue my solo exhibition tour along the Bund.

Lucifer originally came from Roman mythology, referring to the messenger of light, that is, a beautiful angel. In later generations, Lucifer even became a synonym for Satan. Foggy Words: Works themed on 'Lucifer' are always somewhat unappealing. The gallery has opened all the curtains, and the view of the Bund outside is the most beautiful artwork.

"Getting Along", a group exhibition of 12 artists.
The woodwork by Japanese "Mono-ha" master Kishio Suga, I didn't understand. The doors and windows by Qiu Jia, I didn't understand either. The red cloth dots by Liao Guohe, although I didn't understand, they are really photogenic. Zhang Enli's previous work "Tree and Sky", I was confused, and this time his "Professor", I didn't understand at all. Did he foresee the scandal involving Professor Ren Da Wang?
ShanghART's hardware is really good, 1000 square meters of exhibition space on the Bund, and it's a large flat facing the river. It's great to stroll around, whether you understand the art or not is secondary. As Zhang Enli himself said: "There isn't so much profundity that needs to be profound all the time."

"Xiang Fei Xiang", derived from the gatha 'Xiang Fei Xiang' which refers to a sociological imagination about the impermanence and illusoriness of the universe and everything within it. The 'Xiang' represents the external appearance, while the 'Xiang' conveys the inner essence, together constructing the 'self'.
I really like a piece of flower decoration hanging in the exhibition hall, where the brilliant flowers are suspended in 'heaven', and people freely climb and walk through them, displaying the artist's imagined ideal paradise.

The current exhibition 'Form is not form' at Shanghai Shen Gallery is a group exhibition, but Turtle's gaze was drawn to the works of Ji Wenyu and Zhu Weibing, and after longing for a long time, finally got to see them.
