Since its completion in 1930, the Cadillac Shanghai Concert Hall has witnessed historical changes and urban development. Countless music masters have appeared on the stage to bring artistic feasts. Every brick, every pillar, every carving, every painting in this building tells a story. Let us approach the Shanghai Concert Hall together, review the past and present of this building over the past 90 years, and appreciate the legendary story of the art palace. The Shanghai Concert Hall, formerly known as the Nanjing Grand Theater, was built in 1930 and designed by Chinese overseas architects Fan Wenzhao and Zhao Shen. It opened on March 26 of that year. It is the first theater in Shanghai to screen foreign films and premiered the American musical "Broadway". At the same time, it is known as the "Paris Opera House in Shanghai" because of its European Baroque architectural style. In 1950, the Shanghai Concert Hall was renamed Beijing Cinema. In 1959, it was renamed Shanghai Concert Hall to this day. As a national professional music performance venue, with its distinctive European classical architectural style, it was listed as a municipal cultural relic protection unit by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government in 1989 - Excellent Modern Architecture. It is a historic professional music performance venue in Shanghai and one of the landmarks that reflects the Shanghai-style cultural spirit of blending China and the West, coexisting in diversity, and advancing with the times. Shanghai Concert Hall specializes in chamber music, focusing on presenting classical, modern, jazz, pop, folk music and many other music types. It performs more than 500 concerts and holds hundreds of public welfare education activities every year, adhering to the artistic service concept of "Music for Everyone" , with an annual audience of more than 200,000 people, is the "palace of classic music, the window for fashionable music, and the home of popular music" in the hearts of Shanghai citizens, and is one of Shanghai's cultural landmarks. Since 1960, many major music events such as the "Shanghai Spring" International Music Festival and the China Shanghai International Arts Festival have been performed here. Most of the international and domestic music groups that come to Shanghai also perform here. The Shanghai Concert Hall has always been an important window for Shanghai audiences to understand and appreciate world orchestras and musicians. Since its opening, it has included world-renowned art groups such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, Juilliard String Quartet, Hagen String Quartet, conductors Mariss Jansons and Christian Thielemann. , violinists Isaac Stern and Salvador Accardo, cellists Yo-Yo Ma, Maisky, and Wang Jian, pianists Fu Cong, de la Rocha, Maury Perahia, Maurizio... In order to cooperate with the urban reconstruction plan, starting from September 2002, the Shanghai Concert Hall has undergone a translational renovation project. The Shanghai Concert Hall, which weighs as much as 5,650 tons, was lifted 3.38 meters during the translation, and moved southeast from the current elevated Tibet Road ramp to its current location. It traveled a total of 66.46 meters, creating a record in the history of national building translation. A miracle. The relocated Concert Hall reopened on October 1, 2004.
