Shaanxi South Road is an important street in the center of Shanghai that spans the Huangpu, Xuhui and Jing'an districts. It starts from Yan'an Middle Road in the north and ends at Zhaojiabang Road in the south. This north-south main road was originally named "Baolong Road" after Baolong, the founder of the German Medical School, the predecessor of Tongji University. Later, it was renamed "Alpe Road" due to historical changes, and was named Shaanxi South Road in modern times. The road is lined with sycamore trees on both sides, integrating a century of historical sedimentation with modern urban vitality to form a unique street district. As a modern architecture museum in Shanghai, there are many historical protection buildings along Shaanxi South Road: Mahler Villa is famous for its Norwegian-style castle shape; Bugao Li is a well-preserved Shikumen lane in Shanghai; Mingfu Library carries the mission of scientific and cultural inheritance with its simple modernist architectural style. In recent years, Huangpu District has added pocket parks, three-dimensional greening and art installations on Shaanxi South Road through the construction of "park-type beautiful blocks", integrating historical elements into modern ecological space. Metro Lines 1, 10, and 12 intersect here, and the convenient transfer system further enhances the vitality of the neighborhood.
