#koreatrip During our last trip to Gangneung we visited one of the iconic place called Seongyojong, which is the residence of the previous Yangban, Lee Naebeon (1703-1781). During the Joseon Dynasty, Yangban is regarded as the upper echelon of the society, where the head of the family usually holds the important position in the Imperial Court. This house faces Gyeongpo Lake, this house is one of the most well preserved, and their descendents still managing this residence. There are two paths leading to the residence, mainly the Cheongryong-gil and Baekho-gil, which is the Blue Dragon and White Tiger path. You can also visit the museum housing the treasures of the residence, and have a tea experience at one of the pavillion in the afternoon.
