Tucked away in Seodaemun District, Seoul, the Seodaemun Korean Natural History Library is a fascinating spot for nature enthusiasts and curious minds. Unlike a typical library, this unique space combines a natural history museum with an extensive collection of books on geology, paleontology, botany, and zoology. It’s a perfect place for visitors who want to learn about Korea’s diverse natural landscapes and wildlife in a quiet, immersive environment.
The library houses fossils, minerals, preserved plant specimens, and taxidermy displays, offering an up-close look at Korea’s rich ecological heritage. One of its highlights is the dinosaur fossil exhibits, which captivate both children and adults. Visitors can also explore interactive displays and informative panels that explain the history of Earth and the evolution of life.
Surrounded by lush greenery, the library provides a peaceful retreat from Seoul’s bustling city life. It’s a great stop for anyone interested in science, nature, or simply looking for a quiet place to read and reflect. There is a large and impressive dinosaur model at the entrance of the museum.
Although there are dinosaur museums in Japan as well, the one in Seoul is highly recommended as you can visit it while traveling. Be sure to check it out!

The Seodaemun Museum of Natural History in Seoul, South Korea, made my spring vacation memorable! 🌿 Located in the vibrant Seodaemun-gu district, the entrance fee was budget-friendly, around 2,000 KRW per person. As I explored the museum's fascinating exhibits, I was impressed by its interactive displays showcasing the rich biodiversity of Korea and the world. From dinosaur fossils to intricate ecosystems, the museum provided an educational and entertaining experience for visitors of all ages. Afterward, I took a leisurely stroll through the nearby Seodaemun Independence Park, where I learned about Korea's struggle for independence and enjoyed the serene surroundings. Nearby attractions include the historic Seodaemun Prison History Hall, offering a glimpse into Korea's tumultuous past, and the lively Hongdae area, known for its vibrant nightlife and trendy cafes. The Seodaemun Museum of Natural History was a delightful adventure into the wonders of the natural world! #SeodaemunMuseum #NaturalHistory #Seoul 🦕🌳

Seoul is filled with cultural heritage
Seoul is filled with cultural heritage that holds historical value to pass down to future generations.
And under the Seoul Future Heritage project, Seoul is dedicated to help preserve all of these cultural treasures unique to the city of Seoul.
On that note, Visit Seoul would like to introduce a few future heritage locations for an enjoyable walk as the refreshing weather in Seoul settles in for the early summer season in June.
In 2024, I wish to visit this place again.
