Today, we visit the sacred city of Ise, Japan.
Ise is a city in Mie Prefecture, Japan. Here are some attractions in Ise:
- Ise Grand Shrine: This is the most famous attraction in Ise. Ise Grand Shrine consists of two parts, the Inner Shrine and the Outer Shrine, dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu and the food goddess Toyouke. The shrine's architectural style is unique, using the "Shinmei-zukuri" style, made of cypress wood, without ornate decorations.
- Oharai-machi: After leaving the Inner Shrine of Ise Grand Shrine, you will enter the bustling shopping street in front of the Inner Shrine. There are crisscrossing alleys here with beautiful names, such as "Tōfuku Yokocho" and "Oharai Yokocho." All of Ise's specialty products are concentrated in this area. Thanks to the efforts of the locals, the streets of Ise still retain their traditional appearance, and even the post office and bank buildings are still in the style of the time.
- Sarutahiko Shrine: Located not far from the Inner Shrine, it is dedicated to the god of guidance, Sarutahiko, and is a great place to pray for safe travels.
- Meoto Iwa: Located on the Futamiura coast, it is a pair of rocks in the sea, symbolizing marital harmony and family happiness.
- Ise-Shima Sky Castle: Take a cable car up Mount Asama to overlook the beautiful scenery of Ise Bay, a great place to photograph the sunrise and sunset.
