Sao Chaliang, a giant mushroom pillar, over a million years old
Sao Chaliang, Ubon Ratchathani Province, is located in Pha Taem National Park, Khong Chiam District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. It is considered a popular historical tourist attraction in Ubon Ratchathani. Each pillar is about 20 meters high and is made of sandstone that has been eroded and eroded by nature, both water and wind, until it has the strange shape that you see.
This sculpture is a sculpture of sandstone from 2 eras: Cretaceous sandstone, which is about 130 million years old, is the mushroom part on top. The other era is Dinosaur sandstone, which is about 180 million years old, is the beginning of the lower pillar. Both parts have been washed away by weather, rain, and storms for millions of years. After a while, there will be a natural resistance process until the pressure of raindrops makes the sandstone stronger, allowing it to be preserved as Sao Chaliang.
In addition to the beautiful Sao Chaliang, there is also a nature trail that the park has set up for tourists to visit. A little further on is the Broken Stone Field, which was formed naturally, very beautiful and worth seeing.

Sculpture of the pillars of the terrace, giant stone pillars, more than a million years old
Today, I will share my experience of traveling to Ubon Ratchathani Province. That is Sao Chaliang, Ubon Ratchathani Province, located in Pha Taem National Park. It is considered a popular historical tourist attraction in Ubon Ratchathani. Each pillar is about 20 meters high. It is sandstone that has been eroded and eroded by nature, both water and wind, until it has a strange and amazing appearance. This rock looks like a giant mushroom, about the height of a 2-story building. It can be divided into three parts: the first part is sandstone, which has small sand grains, starting from the ground up to a height of 70-100 centimeters. The second part has various types of coarse sand grains, such as volcanic rock grains, quartz grains, and chert grains. The third part has a sheet-like shape, similar to an umbrella, mostly sandstone.

Giant Porch Pillar
Sao Cheliang Yai is a sandstone layer formed by the accumulation of water sediments in the past. It is approximately 100 million years old or in the Mesozoic era. It is classified in the Phu Phan rock group, Khorat rock group. The current geomorphology is the result of the sandstone layer changing its structure due to the expansion and contraction of the hot weather during the day and the cold weather at night, causing the rock layer to have cracks and fractures. Later, there was erosion from water currents and wind. The eroded part was destroyed and blown away. The remaining part gave the shape of "Sao Cheliang Yai". #tripแจกโรงแรมฟรี

Sao Chaliang - Pha Taem National Park
Sao Chaliang - Pha Taem National Park, Ubon Ratchathani
👍It is a tourist attraction with sculptures that nature has created since ancient times, more than a million years old. Sao Chaliang is derived from "Salieng" which means stone pillar.
🗿 Sao Chaliang has 2 eras of rocks: the Cretaceous sandstone era, which is about 130 million years old and is the upper part, and the dinosaur sandstone, which is about 180 million years old and is the upper part. The lower part of the stone pillar was formed by erosion caused by weather, rain and storms over millions of years. The geological properties of sandstone make it easier to erode than other types of rocks. After a while, the natural resistance process and the pressure of raindrops make the sandstone harder and can keep its shape.
