#2024 Travel Review Samui may be one of your destinations during the Christmas holiday ◦ Hong Kong has a daily direct flight, Bangkok Airway funded USM Samui airport, the first privately built airport in Thailand. So only Bangkok Airways does monopoly business, Sukhothai Airport is the same. Samui Airport may not be the best airport in the world, but it is very distinctive. Continuing the characteristic of Koh Samui thatched huts, brown trees, wooden and rattan walls integrated into the terminal building and combined with the surrounding coconut garden landscape, it is so beautiful that it can be used as an attraction. The airport is less electronic, but adopts low-density shops restaurants, semi-open-air ventilation way to build, even going to the airport feels comfortable and relaxed, feeling the holiday is not over. When you enter the waiting room there is a garden and a free lounge, drinks and snacks are all you can eat.

The Samui Island Airport Lounge features the Blue Ribbon Lounge by Bangkok Airways. It is also accessible with a Priority Pass. There is a self-service hot drink corner and soft drinks available from the refrigerator. Light snacks such as sandwiches and muffins are available, and it was interesting to see dim sum as well. The shumai was surprisingly delicious. I later realized that alcoholic drinks were available upon request, and I deeply regretted not ordering any (lol). If I have the chance to visit again, I definitely want to order some alcohol next time.

Samui Airport, officially opened in 1989, is one of Thailand's best airports. Although small and serving mostly domestic routes with a couple of international ones, it is the most stress-free airport most people have been to. Upon checking in and dropping your bags, you'll notice the whole airport is open-air - cooling, refreshing. It offers many outdoor areas for relaxation! To get to your gate, you'll need to walk through an avenue offering many dining and shopping options. Expect gelato shops, international cuisines, and bars. The prices are affordable too. I was blown away by the boarding gates - they were neat and compact, with lounge chairs and sofas. They even have charging stations! The experience from check in to arriving at the boarding gate was extremely fast - about 15 minutes. 100% stress-free, no crowds, and smiling staff all around. I recommend coming about an hour earlier before your flight at Samui Airport to explore its surroundings - quaint, beautiful, and refreshing! The flight that I recently flew on was PG148 from Samui to Bangkok. The round-trip ticket price for 2 people was 17,660 baht (traveled on Monday and returned on Wednesday). Experience in the Bangkok Airways lounge at Samui Airport - Before boarding the plane, we used the free lounge of Bangkok Airways at Samui Airport, which is open to all passengers, not necessarily business class. This lounge is open-air, not air-conditioned, and allows us to fully enjoy the natural breeze from Samui before returning. It is very easy to find the lounge. Just walk straight to the gate zone and you will see the lounge along the way. - The snacks in the lounge are self-service. The monk inside the glass casket is Luong Pordaeng, he died in 1973 in a seated meditative position, and ever since his body has been on display in an upright glass case at the temple. Remarkably, almost 50 years since his death, the monk’s body shows very little sign of decay. For some visitors, having a dead man in full view might be a shocking sight, but for Thai’s it is something to reflect upon and revere. It was quite interesting indeed, there is also a gong beside the temple that visitors can use to some kind of prayer or ritual.
