Dalangxiwan Campground
When the weather is cold, camping in the suburbs is a different experience because there are few people around and you can enjoy the tranquility of nature.
Big Wave Bay is mainly composed of four bays, namely Sai Wan, Ham Tin Bay, Tai Wan and Tung Wan. They are the most remote areas on the east side of Sai Kung and are very popular hiking trails.
There are four bays with different scenery, and tourists from all over the world come to climb mountains and wade through water to visit them all year round, which shows how famous they are.
Among the four bays, only Sai Wan and Ham Tin Bay have legal camping areas. If you set up camp in Da Wan and Dong Wan, you will run the risk of being reported and demolished!
Coming to Xiwan is like entering a deserted place. When the weather is cold, you can enjoy an atmosphere that is completely different from that of a holiday. There are only about 6-7 camps on the entire beach. Generally speaking, Xiwan Campground has water sources and dry toilets, but because the campground is closed, the toilets and water pipes are sealed with tape. So remember to bring water. If you really don't have enough water, you can go to the convenience store in Sai Wan Village to refill, but based on observations on that day, the convenience store was closed in the afternoon on weekdays, probably because there were fewer people. In addition, if you need to go to the toilet, you should do it on the spot!
It was a very windy day, so we chose a night when the winter wind was blowing to set up camp. It was very difficult to set up the tent because of the strong wind, and it took us a full hour. It was so cold at night that we had to put on all our clothes to keep out the cold. I was woken up by the sound of wind in the middle of the night. Fortunately, the sun came out the next morning and it was warm. I had planned to go stargazing on the first night, but it was too cold to leave the tent, so I just stuck my head out to take a look and then curled up back in my sleeping bag. However, since it is a rare opportunity to come here, I had to set up a tripod to take pictures of the stars. Fortunately, I was able to take a picture of Orion, so I can finally give myself an explanation.
The sea view on the second day did not disappoint, it had a very Okinawa feel (self-intoxication).
Next time I think I will come again in spring to see the night sky in a different season.
