The spiritual and physical home of sumo, Ryogoku is where centuries of Japanese tradition continue to live and breathe right in the whirl of modern Tokyo. Located between historic Asakusa and the symbol of future Tokyo, the Skytree, Ryogoku is past and future Tokyo bracing for a grudge match in the sumo wrestling ring. Just next door, the Edo-Tokyo Museum offers a comprehensive and interactive journey into Tokyo’s past all the way to the present and future. While in town, dont miss the chance to watch a sumo tournament, or at least catch a glimpse of a wrestler, visit modern museums among traditional houses and praying at the shrine of the god of scholarship.

Recommend everyone to try a new way of experiencing Tokyo - living in two countries, eating grilled meat on rice, and experiencing sumo culture.
Staying at the "Ryogoku View Hotel" near Ryogoku Station brought a very interesting experience.
"The Ryogoku Station" is one of the oldest stations in Japan. The sumo holy land "Ryogoku Kokugikan" and the "Edo-Tokyo Museum" are both located here. The "Edo-Tokyo Museum" is under renovation, so you can take a stroll nearby.
Here, sumo culture is everywhere. "Ryogoku Station" and "Edo Ryogoku NOREN" are connected as one. "Edo Ryogoku NOREN" has many shops, gathering the essence of Edo cuisine culture. It also has a full-size sumo dohyo and a big screen showing exciting sumo programs. They were playing a special feature on Hakuhō, a truly remarkable sumo wrestler. I watched it attentively for an hour.
In front of the hotel is the Star Boulevard, which features statues and handprints of famous sumo wrestlers throughout history. I particularly like Hakuhō, who has a special charisma.
The food here is full of sumo culture, and the sumo hot pot is too tempting. It can quickly make you gain weight, and one person cannot finish it because there is too much. A bowl of grilled meat rice with garlic on top is also extremely generous, quickly replenishing energy. The garlic and meat fragrance mixed together makes people salivate. After finishing a bowl, you will feel full of vitality.
There are several parks nearby to visit, and it's the perfect time to enjoy the autumn leaves. The headquarters of Lion King is also located here, and the image of the little lion is really interesting.
Staying here for a day is also great, especially if the "Edo-Tokyo Museum" is finished with its renovation.
