#ediinsider I suppose we don’t appreciate how lucky we are that we can visit one of the worlds best streets within an hour or two of leaving our homes, from the gates of the Castle the thoroughfare stretches for 1 old Scottish mile to the palace of Holyrood which is the Queens official residence when in Edinburgh passing wonderful old buildings and closes full of history , bars , cafes and restaurants of all types crowd the street as well as lots of small unique shops that sell all types of stuff a visitor might want. A very enjoyable couple of hours can be had wandering down the Royal Mile.

I've always wanted to go to Scotland but the weather always discouraged me so I decided to go in November. That way I wouldn't be disappointed as it rains all the time. Edinburgh is really a beautiful city that reminds us immediately of the atmosphere of Harry Potter, besides JK Rolling would have started his writing here. There is not much specific thing to do or visit in Edinburgh. Just let your steps guide you through the streets and alleys of the historic center. I would also recommend visiting some of the cemeteries as they are really incredible, filled with tombstones worthy of horror movies. It is even hard to believe that they are real tombs. How I met your Edinburgh

It was my first date with Edinburgh. We met at Waverley Station, she greeted me with her cold beautiful smile in a midwinter day. We began with a sharp climb up the staircase (the hotel was supposed to be 500m away, but failed to mention a sharp angled climb), exiting next to Pizza Hut on Cockburn Street. After checking in at Holiday Inn Royal Mile and ditching the backpack, we started our date. She showed me the best she had to offer: the Royal Mile, Bertie's Proper Fish & Chips, Victoria Street and introduced me to her dad, Edinburgh Castle. After 2 days, we had to say good bye, but suffice to say, I'm in love. Edinburgh, you will always have a special place in my heart. Can't wait to see you again.
