The architecture is amazingly unique and have loads of history. Yeah ... It is a tourist town ... It is overcrowded, really expensive & constantly under renovation... But if you can look pass that you will enjoy Venice . The main attraction here is Grand Canal, St. Mark Square, gandolas? and Rialto Bridge to name a few. But for me the real gems is their outer Island - Lido, Burano, Murano AND wandering around back alleys in Venice, observing antique building & get lost! ... I consider myself quite good with directions but here the buildings looks similar and there's hundreds of bridge ... It's like walking in a maze ... You will get lost ... I mean really2 lost & it was so much fun!! But sooner or later you will know your way plus it's an island ... no matter how lost you are it's not like you can get off of it. Wandering around you will find hidden treasure of Venice, antique places, watch local live their life and play ... Observing people ,their interaction and you will try to guess another person's story ... I love doing it .. When you travel you will met different people with different walk of life ... People watching is very insightful and informative way to know them. It allows you to observe humanity in all its diversity and similarity. Anyway ... Some tips in Venice : when you first arrive and looking for your hotel pls prepare a map of your hotel location ... Wandering around in Venice is fun ... But walking clueless for hours with heavy backpack is no fun ... Every shops have a business card ask for it ... usually they got a map on that card ... That's how you know exactly where you are ... Don't eat at table outside a restaurant ... Eat inside or take away ... It's cheaper ... Don't eat at places with 20 different languages on the menu or didn't show a price at all ... The staggered water buildings, the busy Grand Canal, and the swaying gondolas are what I imagine Venice to be like Avoid: Libreria Acqua Alta The owner seems a bit racist He kept babbling a lot at the entrance, saying they only sell Italian books and there’s nothing interesting The whole place was full of non-Italians, why only babble at Asians… We just wanted to buy a fridge magnet, speechless… I saw posts before where sisters encountered racist staff at this store, seems like a habitual offender! Everyone, avoid 🍛 Food: The island's specialty is seafood 🍤~ We tried fried seafood, seafood pasta, and gelato from a century-old shop~ The taste was pretty good ~ You can choose nearby options~

On August 22, I took a train from Trieste to Venice. The urban area of Venice is distributed across 118 small islands in the bay, connected by 177 waterways and over 400 bridges. Therefore, Venice is also known as the 'City of Bridges'. Upon arriving in Venice, the first things that catch your eye are the water and the bridges. Everywhere, pedestrians hurry across the bridges, and water transport is busy below. The bridges of Venice are diverse and varied in style; some are quaint and ancient, while others are small and exquisite. Notably, the Bridge of Sighs and the four bridges on the Grand Canal are particularly eye-catching. They not only form the wonders of this charming city but also tell the story of Venice's development. 1. Bridge of Sighs The most famous and highest bridge in Venice is the Bridge of Sighs. Built in 1603, it is a pedestrian bridge connecting two buildings, one symbolizing power (the Doge's Palace) and the other a prison. The bridge is enclosed and has an arcade shape, with two small windows. This bridge was the route prisoners took when being taken for trial. As they were escorted from the prison dungeons to the bridge, they could look out at the river and the sea through the windows, often sighing deeply. 2. Rialto Bridge 'Rialto' means 'raised' in Italian. The bridge is a single-span stone arch bridge made entirely of white Istrian stone (a lightweight stone similar to marble), also known as the 'White Elephant'. It is one of the four bridges on the Grand Canal and is considered the most magnificent, oldest, and most important bridge, thus regarded as a symbol of Venice. It is said to have been the longest low arch bridge in the world at the time. 3. Scalzi Bridge Named 'Scalzi Bridge' because one end connects to the Church of the Scalzi (Barefoot), it is the second stone arch bridge on the Grand Canal after the Rialto Bridge. Like the Accademia Bridge, it was designed by Italian engineer Eugenio Miozzi and completed around the same time in 1934. The gray-white Scalzi Bridge, with the green river below and the surrounding light pink or cream-colored buildings, creates a unique townscape. As it connects to the bus station near Piazzale Roma, the bridge is bustling with people daily, and Venetian vendors also showcase their skills on the bridge. 4. Constitution Bridge (Calatrava Bridge) The Constitution Bridge is named to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Italian Constitution. It is also known as the Calatrava Bridge, named after its designer, the renowned Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. 5. One of the world-famous bridges in Venice is the Rialto Bridge (Ponte di Rialto), which spans the longest Grand Canal in Venice, with a total length of four kilometers.

While the main attraction is the bridge. It can be a little difficult to admire it's beauty and architecture with so many tourists in Venice. However it makes for a stunning view from a distance and when you get to be on it, there are the lovely sights of the grand canal. Dopending on where you base yourself in Venice. It can be a long walk to here. I primarily rely on walking. But again with so much crowd it's a bother. And anyways I was far away from here. So i recommend using the waterbus to get here. You get to enjoy the ride and the canal even more. Another thing, for those who would wishfully want there to be less people around. I'd recommend the night time. Also, it looked quite pretty then. Daytime it can even be difficult to set foot on the bridge. But nights are more pleasant.
