Renaissance Beijing Zhongguancun Hotel
1. Location
The hotel is close to Dongsheng Science Park and Dongxiaokou Forest Park, and only a 10-minute drive from the Olympic Forest Park North Park. Dongxiaokou Forest Park is also directly connected to the Changping 42 km Greenway (see P18), making it a great place for running and cycling. For the university circle in Zhongguancun and Wudaokou, it takes more than 20 minutes to take a taxi to the hotel, which is quite convenient.
2. Public Area
The public area has the charm of an art gallery, with military elements everywhere, which are perfectly matched with the modern style of the science park. The lighting in the public area is mainly neon colors, and the glass refraction is used flexibly, which is very fashionable. It is also an interesting experience to explore the horse and chess elements in the public area and rooms.
3. Rooms and Service
I stayed in an open corner room, which is said to be better than the executive room. The room is large and has a very open view, with a distant view of the Olympic Forest Park Tower. The interior of the room is a clever blend of military and technology styles, with many details worth discovering on your own. The room service is very responsive, and all the waiters I met were enthusiastic and responsive to my needs (I had heard that the service was poor in the early days of the opening, but I am sure it has been rectified now).
4. Executive Lounge
The lounge is large and has two private rooms for guests to study or work, and the chessboard table is also very special. Afternoon tea offers cookies, several fruit juices, soft drinks, and fruits; the hot food at Happy Hour (HH) is quite good, with garlic ribs, steak, grilled sausage, mapo tofu, char siu fried rice, chicken soup fish ball rice noodles, etc., and cocktail service. I feel that the food here is one of the best among the Marriott hotels in Beijing.
5. Breakfast
The environment of the restaurant is good, and the performance of several old Beijing snacks and freshly squeezed juices is good, while the rest is average.
6. Swimming Pool and Gym
The pool has just opened, with few people and clear water, and I had the pool to myself twice, which was a great experience. The gym and yoga room are new and well-equipped. However, when there is a large flow of people, the whole fitness area (including the locker room) is indeed a bit cramped, and the experience may be reduced.
Overall, this Renaissance Hotel is worth a stay, especially when there are fewer guests. It is worth mentioning that the hotel does a good job of privacy protection, whether it is the executive lounge with a soundproof private area, the locker room, and shower area with an extra compartment, or the seating arrangement of the restaurant, which is really popular with young people.
