Sailing and hiking in Lofoten was my favourite trip during 2019. I haven’t seen any landscape like this in the world and this is the one place I have promised myself to come back to again. The heart of Lofoten is Reine which you can see o this picture. It has the cutest little fishing village and amazing hikes all around it. In summer the sun doesn’t set for two months and you can be outside all the time. Another must do here is to go out on a fishing trip with a local fishermen to catch cod and if you are lucky you will even spot whales on the ocean.

When I visited the Lofoten Islands last summer I went there during the midnight sun. Have you ever heard of that? It means that the sun never sets during some month in summer (may-tune). It’s definitely the best time to visit this place in my opinion. These pictures here were taken during the night on a hike I will never forget. This place is called Reinebringen. You can reach this peak by walking over 1000 stairs that have been built by Nepalese sherpas last summer. When you reach the top you have this amazing view over the fjords.

Reine & Hamny/hh in Lofoten Islands. The two most popular towns in Lofoten are Reine and Hamny, two adjacent villages. From the airbnb we stayed along the No. 10 road, we will first go to Hamny, then Reine, and finally to the southernmost town of Ou Village.
When passing through Hamny, I saw a group of photographers taking pictures on the bridge. The picture of a group of seabirds gathered together, I thought it was always there. Later, I realized that some people were feeding them, so they attracted them. It is really shocking and beautiful to take this picture.
If you go to Reine in the summer, it is highly recommended to climb the Reinebringen Mountain and overlook the entire Reine. Because the mountain roads are steep, they are all stone slopes, and it is not easy to go up the mountain in winter. I heard that the intersection is very hidden. I used to see pictures taken by the big god on the Internet. The scenery is super beautiful. If you have the opportunity to go again in the summer, you must experience it.

Camping in Lofoten: A Nordic Adventure Like No Other
#magicalxmastrip #lofoten
Camping in the Lofoten Islands of Norway is an experience that feels like stepping into a living postcard. With its dramatic peaks, crystal-clear fjords, and white-sand beaches, this Arctic archipelago offers some of the most stunning camping spots in the world.
The beauty of Lofoten lies in its diversity. Whether you prefer camping by the sea, near a fjord, or nestled against towering mountains, the islands have it all. Beaches like Kvalvika and Uttakleiv are popular spots, offering soft sands and views that will leave you breathless. Imagine waking up to the sound of waves lapping the shore, with the golden hues of the midnight sun or the shimmering northern lights overhead—it’s a camper’s dream.
Hiking enthusiasts will find plenty of trails leading to incredible viewpoints, such as Reinebringen or Ryten, where the effort of the climb is rewarded with panoramic vistas of jagged peaks and turquoise waters. After a day of exploring, setting up camp in the fresh Arctic air feels like a true escape from the modern world.
Camping in Lofoten isn’t just about the scenery; it’s also a chance to experience the local way of life. The islands are dotted with charming fishing villages like Reine and Henningsvær, where you can pick up fresh seafood or chat with friendly locals.
To make the most of your camping adventure, come prepared. Lofoten’s weather can change quickly, so a sturdy tent and warm, waterproof gear are essential. While wild camping is allowed in Norway, it’s important to respect nature by following Leave No Trace principles.
Camping in Lofoten is more than a trip—it’s a chance to connect with nature in its purest form. Whether you’re chasing adventure or seeking peace, the beauty and tranquility of Lofoten will stay with you long after you’ve packed up your tent.

2. The Northern Lights and Midnight Sun
Lofoten offers two extraordinary celestial experiences that are bucket-list worthy. In winter, you can witness the magical Northern Lights dance across the Arctic sky, providing a mesmerizing spectacle. Lofoten’s small fishing villages, like Henningsvær and Reine, offer a taste of authentic Norwegian culture.
