[2025 Alanya Attraction] Travel Guide for Red Tower (Updated May)
3.6
The Red Tower is a fortress built in the port city of Antalya in the 13th century, mainly to defend against attacks from the sea. The octagonal red brick tower is nearly 30 meters in diameter and over 30 meters high, and together with the restored fort, is a landmark of the city. Climb to the top of the tower overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and the old town, the view is spectacular. The old port, the city's garrison point and the nearby ancient shipyard are also worth seeing. Now it has become a commercial area, with pedestrian streets and commercial centers, illuminated by lanterns at night, blending historical atmosphere with modern prosperity.

Amazing Eastern Mediterranean View of Alanya
To those in the know, the best panorama in Alanya can be had from this belvedere in the foothills of the Taurus Mountains.
By car or cab you can get up to the Seyir Terasi in under 15 minutes, and once you’re there you may not want to leave.
From this leafy vantage point you’ve got the best view of the castle’s peninsula, the tessellated white blocks of modern Alanya, as well as the harbour and the aqua-blue expanse of the Mediterranean.

The Red Tower in Alanya
#bucketlistreboot
Another top location where you can go in Alanya is the Red Tower home to the city ethnographic museum. It’s a good place to start to understand this jewel of the Turkish Riviera.
From the tower one can head over to old shipyard for a few catchy photos. Although nothing spectacular, it does offer a good resting place and an opportunity for some photos. Once you’re fully rested, start ascending the castle hill where once the mighty Alanya Castle stood.
The view offers the tourist a great opportunity for photos but more importantly an amazing sight of the bay and city. From here you can head down to the Damlataş Caves. This is a healing cave, discovered in 1948, offering special hours for asthma patients also this where you can see different stone formations.
