Visiting Taiwan, the night markets are an experience not to be missed. This time I came to Raohe Night Market in Taipei, which is filled with an atmosphere of longing. The night market boasts a dazzling array of delicacies, and although it's only a short 20-minute walk, each one is worth recommending. The photos capture the deliciousness I've tasted, especially recommending the pepper buns, the kumquat lemon is very refreshing, and the rib crisps are also fragrant. There's also the ice and fire glutinous rice balls worth lining up for, the unique combination of rice wine with ice and sesame rice balls has a distinctive flavor. Sweet potato balls and taro cakes should be eaten while hot, or the texture will be less enjoyable. Stinky tofu and medicinal braised ribs are very fragrant, but I was too full to eat more, leaving them for next time. Additionally, Yu Zhen Xin's cream puffs, sun cakes, and beef jerky sugar are great as souvenirs. Then I went with friends to Tuen Mun, passing through a village estate with numerous shops and a variety of food and groceries. We tried a Taiwanese restaurant there, spacious and comfortable with music playing, adding to the ambiance. We tasted oyster omelets, garlic stir-fried lettuce, signature beef noodles in soy sauce, crispy rib vegetable rice, signature drunken chicken rolls, clay pot dumplings with chicken stew, pearl milk tea shaved ice, and Long Long Honey Honey special drink, each with its own unique flavor, leaving a lasting impression. Afterward, we started our journey to Kaohsiung. In the morning, we arrived at Taoyuan and took the high-speed train to Kaohsiung. Unfortunately, I didn't win the Jin Fu Qi draw, and there was no one-day offer for the SIM card, so I had to buy a three-day one, and on the last day, I was forced to activate international roaming. In Kaohsiung, there were some 'free' records where the step count doubled. For example, two kids were repairing the roof at Pier-2; the pure white carousel at Stack 2 Warehouse was removed; the Dragon and Tiger Pagodas at Lotus Pond were under maintenance; and the jadeite cabbage at the National Palace Museum was not on display. However, there were also some doubled happiness with delicious food and drinks. The fish belly soup at Dagouding Milkfish Vermicelli Soup was very tasty; Gangyuan Beef Noodles were affordable and initially delicious; Dahua Milk Tea with half sugar was very drinkable, and sweet lovers thought it could be even sweeter. Yanchengpu Night Market is only open on Saturdays, super delicious, with few stalls but all are essence, and the prices are incredibly cheap! The spicy and sour duck feet are absolutely amazing. There's also authentic duck rice, crispy stinky tofu at Ruifeng Night Market, saltwater chicken, and more. The clear broth beef noodles at Liu Shan Dong Beef Noodles in Taipei are also very fragrant. This trip for the working people was super rushed, a hurried three days in the south, and although the one-day trip to Tainan didn't yield much delicious food, I saw the stunning Ten Drum performance and beautiful sunset. On the last day, I hurried back to Taipei and visited the National Palace Museum. With a journey of thirty thousand steps a day, it was fortunate that Kaohsiung was cheap and delicious. The shops didn't open in the morning, but the hotel included breakfast, which was also very satisfying. I will come again! But next time, I'll avoid the Dadong Night Market in Tainan, which is expensive and not tasty. 🥹

📝Taiwan Travelogue part8: Raohe Street Sightseeing Night Market📝 🖼🖼🖼🖼 Raohe Sightseeing Night Market is the earliest sightseeing night market in Taipei, with its own glittering archway. The entire length is about 600 meters, but the stalls are very dense, basically forming two paths on the left and right within 600 meters, so the actual effect should be about 1200 meters. The recommended delicacies by Taipei's official tourism website are oyster vermicelli, medicinal braised ribs, braised dishes, beef offal noodles, frozen desserts, and traditional tofu pudding. Personally, I think it's all about serendipity, just go with whatever you see. 🍧🍧🍧🍧 On this street, I bought grilled squid, saw cute handmade pastries and bought some, couldn't resist the cool flames and got some dice beef, had a handmade popsicle, and then a bowl of taro ball dessert. Saw braised duck blood and tofu and had a bowl, and finally when the craving for instant noodles hit, I also had a bowl of instant noodle wontons. 📷📷📷📷 Here, it's basically possible to find a seat to eat, there are some shops on both sides, and many stalls also have seating available, unlike Ningxia Night Market where you can basically only stand and eat. Like other night markets in Taiwan, in addition to snack stalls, there are many other small shops here, selling souvenirs, small bags. There are fortune tellers with moles, and those traditional old-school game stalls. I noticed that these small shops all have a little clip to hold the plastic wrapper for disposable chopsticks and straws, which feels like a thoughtful little design. Visited on February 7, 2019

There are plenty of stalls in the night market to choose from and try out. The entrance arch of the night market also very instaworthy so remember to take a few shots there. Alright, speaking about food experience in Raohe, there’s one thing which is a die die must-try is the PEPPER BUNS ! #taipei Lots of food! It's mostly a 2 lane street walk. So you can walk down one lane with stalls flanking both sides and do a loop back to visit stores in the parallel lane. Set aside about 2 hrs to complete the route (including eating time). There are some clothing and toy stores as well. But the main draw is clearly the food. When in doubt on what to eat, just join the queue :) Didn't see any toilets around so you may want to go before you go. Tip: Come around 6pm as Stalls only start to set up at around 5:30pm.

There are food stall on the both side of the walkway, you can walk down one lane with stalls flanking both sides and do a loop back to visit stores in the parallel lane. There are some clothing and toy stores as well. But the main thing here is clearly the food. Most of the good food will have a long queue despite is drizzling. This 2 food are my personal favourite! Rice Dumping on ice and Pepper meat bun! One thing to take note that there are no toilet available in the night market so the nearest one will be at the metro station!

RaoHe Street Night Market is one of the most famous night markets in Taipei. It offers a lot of yummy foods and snacks at affordable prices. It is close to the Songshan train station, and Songshan Ciyou Temple. I love the Fuzhou Black Pepper Bun so much, the skin was crispy and the meat was so flavourful. Please be prepared for a long queue. Other than that, I also highly recommend the Tamagoyaki. I did a weekend trip in Taipei as my place of residence (Hong Kong) eased inbound travellers’ quarantine requirements. Not having travelled Taiwan for 3 years due to the Covid-19 pandemic felt surreal as it has always been my favourite destination for a short/weekend-trip. Unfortunately, the weather was bad throughout the trip – it was constantly raining. However, fortunately at night, the heavy rain stopped, and I could go out to the famous night markets such as Ningxia and Raohe. My favourite night market was Ningxia. Although it remained the same as three years ago, I could still see some changes – more varieties in food, especially Korean snacks. I felt like I was in my heritage home! After eating loads of food at the night market, I went straight to bed and woke up early the day after. I went out to see the Taipei 101 – the city’s one of the most famous landmarks. Unfortunately, the foggy weather did not allow me to oversee the entire building but at least, it was not crowded. Then I decided to go back to my hotel and pack up and left for Hong Kong. Although I could not do much outdoor activities due to the adverse weather conditions, I still enjoyed the trip. I cannot wait to go back again.

Rao He night market is one of my favourite night markets. I will usually go there after visiting the city hall and Taipei 101. I will also visit the wufengpu garment wholesale centre which is a 20 minute walk from the Rao He night market. My suggestion is to reach there by 7pm so that most of the stalls would be ready for operations. Similar to other Taiwan night markets, the focus is on the foods. One of the long queue food stalls is the black pepper bun which costs 50b. The bin is freshly made and the meat is juicy and tender. There are also grilled beef steaks and grilled squid to suit your taste buds. There are also many restaurants and desert stalls there. My favourite would be the peanut rainbow ice shadings topped with vanilla ice cream. The serving portion is huge and very satisfying. You can take a train here or a taxi for less than 300twd from the ximending area. The Rao he market closes late at night. #bucketlistreboot

Always revisit raohe night market whenever i’m in taipei. Literally the best night market with tons of food, tons of GOOD food, stalls for shopping, and activities! my favourite from this night market has got to be the smelly tofu (the only one i enjoy eating in taipei so far) because it’s delicious with the pickled cabbage & the chilli (rly spicy). Beef cubes are a must have & i basically tried everything that’s new to me whenever i visit a night market in taiwan. The bubble tea was soooo cheap compared to singapore prices & i couldn’t resist but got a 1 litre cup (50 TWD = ~2+ SGD). Estimate around 2-3 hours here for a good time! #taipei #taiwan

One of the more popular night market in Taipei is the Raohe Street night market. It only opens after 5pm daily and is located at Raohe St, Songshan District, Taipei City, Taiwan 105. Some people considered it as the best single night market for all your night food needs. One of the must eat here is the black pepper bun. The stall is just located inside the entrance of the night market's East entrance. These are freshly made on the spot and the queue for it is always so long! Another must eat is the deep fried spiral potato stick. I will always get this when I chance upon it. If you are heading there in the cold weather, I will also recommend you to try the herbal ribs soup. The soup is rich with the herbs and I love the sweetness of those herb in the soup. started the evening at raohe night market with this rice rolls or 港式腸粉 from this uncle's stall. he was very friendly and have a happy demeanor. the rice rolls tasted delicious, a taiwanese take on a cantonese dimsum staple. the sauce is lighter and you can add chili sauce to taste. i really enjoyed this dish. after, i headed to yupin for ice tangyuan. ordered item 7, mix of sesame and peanut rice balls/tangyuan with ice osmanthus syrup. tangyuan is good, osmanthus syrup is well balanced. not too sweet. lemon juice is provided if you need to balance the taste. this is a different take on the classic chinese hot dessert. worth a try for the experience. the tangyuan balls will have a different texture because of the temperature. #raohenightmarket #taipei #songshan #美食 #夜市

visited the raohe night market. the pepper buns were cheap and nice. overall market was pleasant but was abit crowded. do not miss out on the street food. sadly did not manage to try the famous glutinous rice balls. better than shilin night market. we went around 7pm and was crowded with loads of food options like sweet potato balls and near mrt. loads of nice food available so do make a trip!
