🇸🇬 Hiking to Rail Corridor
#hikingtrails #100WaysOfTravel
A 24km Rail Corridor in Bukit Timah area and you can hike here to go to many nature parks. Always remember to apply mosquito repellent and sunblock in Singapore weather when you go hiking. This Rail Corridor is very easy to start hiking as it is also along many transportation like MRT and bus stop. So at anytime if you are tired then you can use the public transport too. It is also advisable not to hike at night as there are no street lights on some parts and there are wildlife appearance too. The aim of the Rail Corridor is also to allow a safe passage for the wildlife.

🚂 Singapore Rail Corridor: The Ultimate Urban Jungle Adventure You’re Missing Out On! 🌿
#singaporetrip
Ever wanted to walk through Singapore’s secret backdoor? The Rail Corridor is a 24km green ribbon slicing through the city—where old train tracks, wild monkeys, and graffiti hideouts collide. I laced up my sneakers expecting a boring stroll… and ended up on a wild, Insta-worthy expedition.
First Impressions: “Wait, This is Still Singapore?”
Stepping onto the trail near King Albert Park, the city noise vanished. Suddenly it was just rustling leaves, chirping birds, and the occasional mountain biker zooming past. The air smelled like wet earth and freedom—no ERP gantries here!
The “Whoa” Moment 🤯
Finding the old Bukit Timah Railway Station—a 1930s time capsule with peeling blue doors and a platform where trains haven’t stopped in decades. (Cue Stand By Me fantasies.) Bonus: A wild hornbill photobombed my pics like a boss.
Hidden Gem: The “Suicide Bridge” (But It’s Not Spooky, Promise!) 🌉
Near Hillview, this rust-red steel bridge arcs over the jungle. It’s actually an old railway overpass, now draped in vines. Perfect for:
Moody photos (#NoFilterNeeded)
Pretending you’re in Jurassic Park (sans dinosaurs)
Fuel Stops: Because Hiking = Carb Excuses
Hillview Coffee House (5-min detour): Iced matcha latte + katsu sando = hiker’s happy meal.
The Rail Mall’s prata shop: Crispy, greasy, perfect post-walk revenge on your step count.
Adventure Itinerary ⏳
⏰ 7AM: Start at Tanjong Pagar Railway Station (golden hour magic)
⏰ 9AM: Hit Bukit Timah Nature Reserve detour (monkey spotting!)
⏰ 11AM: Brunch at Rail Mall (earned that prata, okay?)
⏰ 3PM: End at Kranji wetlands (if you’re hardcore)
Pro Tips 💡
✔️ Wear sunscreen—the open stretches are savage
✔️ Water + snacks—only 7-11s are the ants (they’re everywhere)
✔️ Weekdays = empty, weekends = families + cyclists
Final Thought: This trail is Singapore uncensored—no glossy Marina Bay vibes, just raw, green, real side of the island. Left with muddy shoes and a camera roll that made my friends ask “Where even is this?!”

Weekend Wander: A Journey Through Bukit Timah’s Scenic Rail Corridor
#favouriteitinerary One of our absolute favorite ways to spend a weekend is by exploring the Rail Corridor at Bukit Timah. It’s the perfect blend of nature, history, and a bit of adventure, all rolled into one. The moment we step onto the old railway tracks, we’re immersed in a world of lush greenery, with every corner offering something new and scenic to take in. One spot we never get tired of is the iconic Upper Bukit Timah Truss Bridge. The panoramic view there is simply stunning, and it’s one of those places where we can’t resist snapping a few photos.
We also love visiting the Bukit Timah Railway Station, which has been thoughtfully restored. It’s such a cool place to pause and learn about the area’s rich history. The stories of how this old railway station once connected Singapore to Malaysia really bring the place to life. After our walk, we often head over to the 1932 Story Café. Nestled in the heritage Railway Staff Quarters, the café has this charming, vintage feel. Their Charred Seafood Laksa Pasta is an absolute favorite, and it’s always the perfect way to unwind after a little outdoor exploration.
Getting to the Rail Corridor is easy since it’s accessible from several entry points like Dairy Farm Nature Park and The Rail Mall. It’s great for a spontaneous outing, but we always check the weather before heading out, since the tropical heat can be a bit much. Even so, the whole experience, from the walk to the views and the food, makes it one of the best ways to spend a weekend. We always leave feeling refreshed and so happy we spent the day there.
