Direction the Schlossberg, a hill culminating at 123 meters and overlooking the city where you can enjoy a superb panorama. To get there from Graz city center, you have the following options: On foot from Schlossbergplatz square, allow about 30 minutes to climb the 260 steps By elevator, which will take you inside the hill By funicular, starting from the Place de l’Empereur François-Joseph to the summit. Schlossberg means “Castle Mountain”, because at the time, there was indeed a castle on the hill. Until the 19th century, the Schlossberg served as a military post and refuge for the inhabitants of Graz in the event of enemy attacks. Napoleonic troops never managed to take it. 2. I was back there two years ago .The beauty of it is that you never tire of the classic views, while always finding something new. In my case, the ARGOS building by Zaha Hadid had finally been completed and there's a Red Bull Racing car attached to the rocky walls of the Schloßberg. I also stayed in Lend and got to explore this edgy neighbourhood further, with more time. #tripaway
