It's not easy to open a hotel or brand store here, let alone a branded hotel with group standards and service offerings. Longyearbyen's recreational activities are divided into long and short trips. Long trips involve one or two weeks on a cruise ship, circling Svalbard for sightseeing. Short trips are day trips. Longyearbyen itself is not large, and you can easily explore it on foot in a day. The city has a simple layout.
