Northern characteristic ancient town - Qinglong Ancient Town
Qinglong Town is located in Houcun Township, adjacent to Yangqu County and Jiancaoping District of Taiyuan, close to National Highway 208 and Dayun Expressway. It was an important town in ancient northern China and a necessary route to go to Xikou. It has been rated as a national traditional ancient village and one of the top ten new scenic spots in the province. The culture of Qinglong Ancient Town has a long history. The original name of Qinglong Ancient Town was Jinghaozui. During the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty, Wang Shengzhong (born in the eighth year of Qianlong), a member of the Wang clan in the village, donated a million taels of silver to the Qing Dynasty. The royal family compensated him with a plaque of "Baiwan Shengzhong" and a large flag embroidered with the pattern of "Qinglong", implying that the Manchu and Han people were one family. Since then, Jinghaozui has been renamed Qinglong Town. But another theory is that the whole mountain shape and direction of Qinglong Town is quite like a flying dragon, hence the name. It is said that in 1900, Empress Dowager Cixi came to Qinglong Ancient Town and stayed in the embroidered building where Wang Shichang's daughter lived, also known as "Official Hat Building". At that time, Empress Dowager Cixi was eating millet rice and authentic old pickles and couldn't stop praising them. The Empress Dowager's fragrant millet from Yangqu County was also named after this. This can be said to be half of the history of Jin merchants in Qinglong Town. The ancient town now mainly focuses on antique, primitive, and natural. Many original ecological villages are in sight, such as stone mills, water wheels, rollers, teams, supply and marketing cooperatives. The development of culture and entertainment is also very rapid.
