You can skip the Yellow Crane Tower, but Qingchuan Pavilion is a must-visit
The Qingchuan Pavilion is just too photogenic - a free and less-known spot in Wuhan for checking in|||Introduction: Located in Hanyang District, Wuhan, Qingchuan Pavilion was built during the Jiajing era of the Ming Dynasty. It was expanded by the Hanyang Prefect Fan Zhizhen while renovating Xue Yujis' palace (originally the Yuwang Temple).
The name of Qingchuan Pavilion comes from the verse 'Clear rivers lined with the trees of Hanyang, fragrant grasses lush at Parrot Island' by the Tang Dynasty poet Cui Hao. It is known as one of the 'Three Wonders of Chu' and, along with the Yellow Crane Tower and the Ancient Guqin Terrace, is one of the 'Three Famous Sights of Wuhan', and is called 'the First Tower under Chu Heaven' (for reference).
🎫Tickets: Reservations can be made on Ctrip, free of charge. I entered without a ticket check on the weekend, and access was unrestricted.
🅿️Parking: There is a dedicated parking area and a hotel right next to Qingchuan Pavilion. There were plenty of parking spaces available, and parking was free when I visited.
🚗Transportation: There are direct buses nearby, with special tourist routes arranged, such as the Qingchuan Pavilion - Baotong Temple - Shanhaiguan tourist bus. There is also a ferry terminal with direct access, where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery and historical culture of 'Clear rivers lined with the trees of Hanyang, fragrant grasses lush at Parrot Island' while feeling the river breeze.
Tips:
1️⃣Try to go early, as it gets crowded later, making it inconvenient to quietly appreciate the scenery, and many seats upstairs will be taken;
2️⃣For attire, you can choose modern Chinese style, cheongsam, ancient costumes, and other elements that blend with the ancient architectural style of Qingchuan Pavilion;
3️⃣The in-house cup of coffee☕️ is worth a try. Recommended: Qingchuan Pavilion's original latte, with fitting latte art, tastes great, showing the barista's effort. The shop's decor matches the theme of Qingchuan Pavilion, making for eye-catching photos - there are seats at the entrance, and it's fine to sit without making a purchase. The staff's attitude towards our photo-taking was very friendly, thumbs up👍;
4️⃣There is an admission fee for the Dayu Cultural Museum in Qingchuan Pavilion, which is optional for visitors;
5️⃣There are paid telescopes on the top, from which you can see the Yellow Crane Tower across the river.
Overall, it's a place well worth visiting, not only for its strong cultural atmosphere but also for the beautiful river views, feeling the ancient civilization while enjoying the river breeze.

Many people don't recommend Qingchuan Pavilion, but you can view the Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge and Yellow Crane Tower from there!
⛰ Qingchuan Pavilion
🌟 Highlights: An underrated attraction in Wuhan that is just as impressive as the Yellow Crane Tower, "The clear river reflects the trees of Hanyang, and the fragrant grasses of Parrot Island are lush". Qingchuan Pavilion is famous for Cui Hao's poem, just like the Yellow Crane Tower. However, while the Yellow Crane Tower is a must-visit photo spot for tourists in Wuhan, Qingchuan Pavilion is much more low-key. Only after visiting Qingchuan Pavilion did I realize that the view of the river from there is unparalleled!
🗓 Itinerary: It is recommended to start the tour from the main entrance and visit each scenic spot step by step following the guide map. Since the scenic area is not very large, it will take about 30 minutes to finish the tour. If you like taking photos, you can choose different angles and locations to shoot, and 1 hour should be enough.
✅ Must Experience: Behind Qingchuan Pavilion is the Turtle Mountain Scenic Area. Climbing Turtle Mountain, you can enjoy the Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge, Yellow Crane Tower, and especially the night view of Wuhan, which is very beautiful!
📍 Detailed Address: No. 86, Xima Chang Street, Hanyang District, Wuhan
🚗 Transportation Strategy: To get to Qingchuan Pavilion, it is recommended to take the subway line 6 directly to Zhongjiacun subway station, get off at Exit C, then there is a bus stop right outside the station. Take bus 532, and after three stops, you will arrive at Qingchuan Pavilion bus stop, which is very convenient.
🕙 Opening Hours: 0900~2030
💰 Ticket Price: Qingchuan Pavilion is open to the public for free, but advance reservation is required
📌 Little Tips: As one of the three famous attractions in Wuhan, it not only has a long history but also has representative classical architecture. It is really suitable for taking photos in ancient costumes.
The scenic spot of Qingchuan Pavilion is free, and you need to scan a code to make a reservation at the spot. This scenic spot is very suitable for shooting ancient costume works.

Accommodation can be found on the pedestrian street, and during holidays, consider staying near Wuchang or subway stations as Wuhan is quite large, and the main mode of transportation is the subway.
On the first morning, head to the Gude Temple, where admission is now free. The Gothic-style temple is particularly suitable for photography. For lunch, arrange for some authentic Wuhan cuisine on Jianghan Road pedestrian street, then set off for the Wuhan Hankou Art Gallery. Upon arriving at the gallery, first take a photo with the 'City Bubble,' as the artistic atmosphere here is quite special. The avant-garde and diversity of the side exhibitions are its charm. In 2015, it was selected as the second batch of national key art galleries, harmoniously coexisting with modern life and the old concession buildings.
After leaving, not far away is Lanling Road, where you can check in at Liu Yihu's lotus root powder shop, closely followed by Ni Huangpi Road, a must-visit place for artistic youth, perfect for taking photos.
Then take a bus to Qingchuan Pavilion, where admission is free. From the top floor, you can see the Yellow Crane Tower and the adjacent Yangtze River Bridge. Afterwards, you can visit the opposite Gui Mountain Park to see the famous Turtle Mountain TV Tower, check in above the Butterfly Spring to frame the past and present, and then go to Wansong Garden to taste the local snacks. In the evening, visit Hankou River Beach to enjoy the light show on both sides of the Yangtze River.
The next morning, go to Lingbo Gate to watch the sunrise, making sure to check the weather forecast in advance. After the sunrise, experience the Wuhan breakfast culture on Liangdao Street, where you must try the shaomai, fried dough, and hot dry noodles. Right next door is the Tanhua Lin Big Cat Graffiti Wall, just across from the subway entrance.
Next, take the subway to the Hubei Provincial Museum, but be sure to arrive early to queue up for the King Goujian sword, as there are many people. Don't miss the Zenghou Yi chime bells either. For lunch, head to Guanggu Square, where the distinctive European-style street is also worth a visit. In the afternoon, check in at the East Lake Mo Mountain Scenic Area to enjoy the romantic 'Eye of East Lake.' If the weather is good, be sure to take the Mo Mountain cable car, ride the macaron-colored cable car, and enjoy the romantic hot air balloon and East Lake Beach, loved by both adults and children.
Then head to Wuhan Guan to experience the 1.5 yuan Yangtze River ferry. It is recommended to take the ferry on weekdays when it is not too crowded. After disembarking, you can stroll around Hubu Alley.

Qingchuan Pavilion
Located on Turtle Hill on the west bank of the Yangtze River in Wuhan, Qingchuan Pavilion was built and named after a poem by Cui Hao, just like the Yellow Crane Tower. The Yellow Crane Tower that stands today was built by modern people and is far from its original location by the river; Qingchuan Pavilion is an ancient architectural complex built during the Ming and Qing dynasties, overlooking the Yangtze River for three hundred years. Many of its pavilions and terraces are historical relics, and the Yuji Imperial Palace has been announced by the State Council as the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
Qingchuan Pavilion is located on Yugong Rock at the eastern foot of Turtle Hill in Hanyang, north of the Han River, east of the Yangtze River, facing the Yellow Crane Tower across the river. It is a famous historical site that combines cultural relics and ancient architecture with garden scenery. Attractions include Yuji Imperial Palace, Qingchuan Pavilion, Iron Gate Pass, Yu Stele Pavilion, Chaozong Pavilion, Chubo Pavilion, Jingchu Xiongfeng Stele, Poetry Stele Corridor, Shangao Shuichang Stele, Yugong Rock, and Bixi Stele.

My personal experience of a special forces-style day trip in Wuhan
Due to circumstances, I went to Wuhan for a special forces-style day trip. Although it's not my first time in Wuhan, there are many places I haven't been to, such as the old streets of Hankou, Hankou River Beach, and Qingchuan Pavilion. Early in the morning at 6 o'clock, I rode a shared bicycle to the pedestrian street of Lihuangpi Road. There were few people at this time in the usually crowded Bagong House, Orthodox Church, and the former site of the '87 Conference (Figures 1-4), which was particularly suitable for taking pictures. Then I came to Yanjiang Avenue, which was also very quiet with few pedestrians. I checked in at Jianghaiguan, Soong Ching Ling's former residence, and the former site of HSBC Bank (Figures 5-7). At more than 9 o'clock, I took the subway line 2 to line 5 to the Yellow Crane Tower scenic area (Figures 8-10). Since it was my second visit, and the main building was backlit, I just revisited the old place and took a few random shots. In the afternoon, I came to Qingchuan Pavilion, one of the three famous attractions in Wuhan (Yellow Crane Tower, Qingchuan Pavilion, and Guqin Platform). As it was my first visit, I naturally had to take a good look around. From the second floor, I could see the beautiful scenery around, with the Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge and the Yellow Crane Tower on the opposite bank clearly visible (Figures 11-15). Then I hurriedly went to another famous attraction, Guqin Platform. Unfortunately, it was under renovation and temporarily closed, so I could only take a leisurely walk around Yue Lake. The newly built theater, concert hall, and art museum along the way, each with a different style, also had good viewing value (Figures 16-17). After dark, I came to Hankou River Beach and enjoyed the beautiful night view of both banks of the Yangtze River (Figures 18-20).
After a busy day of sightseeing, I generally felt that Wuhan's public transportation is very developed. There are not many people on the subway or bus on weekdays, and with shared bicycles, it is very convenient to go to various attractions, which is more suitable for independent travel. In addition, except for the Yellow Crane Tower, these attractions are all free.

Qingchuan Pavilion--Understanding a city through a poem
Qingchuan Pavilion is one of the three major attractions in Wuhan, facing the Yellow Crane Tower in Wuchang across the river. The pavilions stand opposite each other, complementing each other, and are spectacular, known as the 'Three Chus Scenic Spots'. The famous pavilions across the river are unique on the Yangtze River.
Upon entering the scenic area, the first thing that comes into view is an ancient palace, which was originally a Yuwang Temple on the Yangtze River, now known as 'Yuzi Xinggong', which was built in the Shaoxing period of the Southern Song Dynasty and has a history of more than 800 years. During the Tianqi period of the Ming Dynasty, 'Yuwang Temple' was renamed 'Yuzi Xinggong', and it was expanded on the basis of the original worship of Dayu.
During the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, another building was added during the renovation of Yuzi Xinggong. This building is Qingchuan Pavilion, named after the poem 'Qingchuan Li Li Hanyang Tree, Fragrant Grass Qi Qi Yingzhou' by Tang Dynasty poet Cui Hao.
The most charming place of Yuzi Xinggong is its small courtyard on the right. The courtyard is small, under the white wall and gray tile courtyard, there are green bamboo, small pool, small bonsai, and side room. Standing in it, looking at the tree shadow and bamboo shadow on the white wall, the Chinese poetry is so understood by nature.
The most eye-catching building in the courtyard of the small courtyard is the Yu Beiting. But the beauty of this courtyard is inseparable from the small courtyard. The archway is a common structure in ancient Chinese architecture, and it is born with a gentle and elegant temperament. People come in and out of the door, and every move becomes gentle
Walking from the small courtyard to the large courtyard, you can see the ancient trees towering, under the tree there are stone tables and benches and ancient pavilions. Straight ahead is the Iron Gate, and you can also see the Turtle Mountain TV Tower on Turtle Mountain.
The Qingchuan Pavilion Scenic Area is named after Qingchuan Pavilion, and it naturally appears at the end. Qingchuan Pavilion, also known as Qingchuan Tower, was built in the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty and has the reputation of 'the first famous building in Chutian'. It faces the Han River to the north and the Yangtze River to the east. More than 400 years have passed.
It is the only scenic spot in Wuhan that stands by the river. Although it is not as famous as the Yellow Crane Tower, it is slightly niche. But those who are familiar with the poem 'Qingchuan Li Li Hanyang Tree' will definitely be full of longing for it, and even have poetic and picturesque imagination.
Because of its unique geographical environment, it is not only praised as the 'Three Chus Scenic Spots', but also known as the 'First Building of Chuguo Qingchuan', which vividly reproduces the magnificent style of the Chu people building platforms according to the mountain and building pavilions on the platform.

Qingchuange, also known as Qingchuan Tower, is located in Qingchuan Street, Hanyang District, Wuhan City
Qingchuange, also known as Qingchuan Tower, is located in Qingchuan Street, Hanyang District, Wuhan City, situated on Yugongji at the foot of the east of Turtle Mountain on the north bank of the Yangtze River, facing the Han River to the north and the Yangtze River to the east. It is hailed as the 'first famous building in Chutian' and is currently the only scenic spot in Wuhan standing by the river.
As soon as you enter the Qingchuange Scenic Area, the first thing you see is the 'Three Chus Victory', passing through this door, what comes into view is the 'Jingchu Xiongfeng' stele, climbing up the stairs, you will see the 'Yujixing Palace' built to commemorate Dayu's water control. On the left is the 'Iron Gate', in the middle is the 'Yu Stele Pavilion', and by the river is the 'Qingchuange'.
The current Qingchuange was rebuilt in 1985, according to historical photos and site range during the Guangxu period, the rebuilt is a reinforced concrete imitation wood structure, two floors, 17 meters high, granite base, red walls and vermilion pillars, the whole body is painted with color paintings.
The doors, windows and railings are all made of wood, and the color paintings inside the building are drawn by highly skilled craftsmen using traditional techniques, so the building is permeated with a simple and elegant atmosphere and a touch of elegance from the inside out.
Climbing up the Qingchuange, after a round, sitting on the side of the building, you can overlook the majestic Yangtze River Bridge, the vast Yangtze River, the looming Yellow Crane Tower, the flute-breaking ships, in front of you, presents a beautiful picture of the magnificent Wuhan River City.
We climb the tower here, watch the vast smoke and waves, browse the scenic spots and historical sites, and explore the legend of Dayu's water control. Feel the uninterrupted river breeze blowing slowly, it's really comfortable.
I think, it's rare in life to have such a quiet place, here is not only a great place to taste the scenery of Wuhan, enjoy the cool river breeze, but also a good place to take pictures, this is really to understand, why the ancients like to climb high and write poems, 'how many things in the past and present, are all in the laughter'.

Wuhan Qingchuan Pavilion and the Yellow Crane Tower are opposite each other across the river. They are set off against each other and are spectacular.
