Even an earthquake couldn’t stop this Pagoda

Would you believe that this pagoda in Yanling, Henan is over 1000 years old? Towering over the crowded city, it has a history dating back to the Sui Dynasty in 604AD, that is until it was damaged by an earthquake almost 500 years ago and rebuilt again in its current spot in 1549.
A little detail I loved about this hidden gem were the carvings of Buddha around the base.

Qianming Temple Tower
Qianming Temple Tower, also known as Yanling Tower, is located at No. 298 Qianming Temple Road, Yanling County, Xuchang City, Henan Province. According to the Ming Dynasty's "Jiajing Yanling County Chronicle" and the stele inscription "Record of the Construction of the Pagoda and Corridor of Qianming Temple in Yanling County in the First Year of Longqing" in the first year of Longqing, "The Qianming Pagoda in this county was founded in the fourth year of Renshou in the Sui Dynasty (604), and it has stood majestically for a thousand years, dominating the region." The Qianming Temple Tower was first built in the fourth year of Renshou in the Sui Dynasty (604). In the 28th year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1549), monk Xu Xian repaired the pagoda top that was destroyed by an earthquake.
In 1986, the Qianming Temple Tower was announced as a key cultural relic protection unit in Henan Province by the Henan Provincial People's Government.
In 2006, the Qianming Temple Tower was announced as a national key cultural relic protection unit by the State Council of the People's Republic of China.
