Pura Tirta Empul
Pura Tirta Empul is a sacred water temple located in the small town of Tampaksiring, in the central part of Bali. Before entering the temple, everyone, both men and women, must wear a sarong to maintain decorum and show respect to the place. This sacred spring is located in a temple that is over a thousand years old. The spring naturally emerges from the ground. The Balinese believe that bathing and washing one's face in this water purifies the mind and body, bringing good fortune and blessings.

Beautiful Water Temple in Ubud
Absolutely beautiful sacred Temple in Ubud, Bali.
You are required to cover your legs when entering the temple but do not worry as they provide sarongs if you have not brought your own. I would recommended hiring a guide to bring you around as they can better explain the history and culture of the place. The holy water comes from the spring and flows out of the sprouts into a pool where people can go to cleanse themselves. Do remember to bring swimwear/ towels if you plan to do the cleansing ritual. But remember to respect the religion and people praying there as it is still an active temple. Definitely a bucket list attraction when in Bali so do plan some time to head here.

Tirta Empul Temple
Tirta Empul, meaning ‘holy water spring’ is actually the name of a water source that's located within the temple. The spring feeds various purification baths, pools and fish ponds surrounding the outer perimeter, which all flow to the Tukad Pakerisan River. Various sites throughout the region and many other archaeological relics relate to local myths and legends.
Tirta Empul temple complex comprises 3 key divisions, namely a front, secondary and inner courtyard. Visitors to Tirta Empul first come upon the lush gardens and pathways adorned with statues and tropical plants that lead to the entrance. After stepping through this candi bentar (temple gate), a vast walled courtyard welcomes visitors to the bathing pools where a large wantilan meeting hall stands to the right.
The myth behind the curative and purifying spring tells of a Balinese ruler, known by the title Mayadenawa, who is depicted to have defied the influence of Hinduism and denied his subjects religious prayers and practices. The legend goes that this eventually angered the gods, and in a campaign, god Indra sought Mayadenawa’s subdual.

The temple is surrounded by a wonderful green atmosphere, and a natural spring attracts visitors to perform traditional rituals. I enjoyed walking around the temple and seeing the beautiful decorations and historical inscriptions.
It was amazing to see local visitors and tourists sharing their soul-purifying experiences. Visiting Bora Terta Empul was an unforgettable experience combining natural beauty and deep spirituality.

Sacred Spring... Bali, Indonesia.
❤️Pura Tirta Empul❤️ The sacred spring is located within this temple, showcasing the beautiful Balinese style. The intricate construction and the sacred spring allow visitors to bathe according to Hindu beliefs. This spring is a natural fountain, and there is a changing area at the entrance for those who wish to bathe and cleanse themselves of negative energies.
This temple is near Ubud and can be reached by renting a car or motorcycle. Since I don't have a motorcycle license, I hired a driver to take me around. It's said that if you're caught by the police without a motorcycle license, the penalties are severe.
❤️If you're visiting Bali, this is a temple you shouldn't miss. Experience the local culture and beliefs.❤️
📍Location: Ubud, Bali

🙏🏻A Spiritual Experience in Bali👏🏻A Must-Do👍
🇮🇩Blissful Bali🇮🇩
These 2 fountains here are separate from the line of fountains in the big pool, in the main and first area.
These two fountains are just located behind the giant stone elephant statue
nevertheless we did the same thing here before we moved on the last, most important and main fountain.
Like in every fountain you visit, you pray and wash your head with the flowing water. Then you move on to the next, it was quite a spiritual experience.

❤️Prayer Fountains in Bali❤️A Must-Do👏🏻
🇮🇩Blissful Bali🇮🇩
Now we go into the pool and stand under the spouts of the fountains, allowing the sacred water to flow over our heads and bodies. So this act is not only a physical cleansing but also a spiritual surrender, as we release our burdens and impurities into the water, symbolizing a rebirth—a shedding of the old and embracing of the new.
As we go to each fountain we pray, give gratitude and make wish then wash our face 3 times, drink a bit of the water and finally submerge ourselves under the fountain, especially the top of our heads.
We repeat this to all the fountains except the 11th and 12th which is reserved for respecting the dead.
What an experience! A must-do when in Bali❤️

🇮🇩Blissful Bali🇮🇩
We then move to the central courtyard where a rectangular pool is fed by 13 fountains, each fountain represents a source of holy water, believed to possess unique properties of purification and healing.
So we join the line of tourists and locals alike to wait for our turn to get into the pool and do our cleansing ritual ceremony. As you can see there are so many people in the temple doing this ritual as it is one of the ‘must-do’ things when in Bali.

Pura Tirta Empul - Bali
Intro - Dating back to 962, Tirta Empul is a temple complex built around a sacred natural stream in Tampaksiring. Sarong-clad tourists and Hindu devotees from all over the island flock to the temple pools to bathe and purify themselves, as well as bring holy water.
Attractions - The entrance to the Tirta Empul sacred spring temple is located far from the main road. In front of the temple there is a large car park, which is always full of tourist vehicles and cars. You can get here by renting a motorbike, self-driving car, or renting a car with a driver to pick you up and back.
Sacred Spring Temple Tirta Empul is one of the busiest holy water temples in Indonesia as well as the Balinese people themselves consider this a sacred temple. The temple has several sacred water springs believed to have been created by Lord Indra and the blessed water can purify those who bathe there.
Behind the bathing pool is the final area of the Tampak Siring Sacred Spring Temple, called jeroan. Most Bali tourists often overlook it because the courtyard or backyard is a quiet place for people to come and pray. The front part of the yard has a large spring providing water for the bathing pools. Spring here is filled with green algae and small fish swimming among the reeds. Behind the stream are large Hindu temples. This part of the temple is quite beautiful, you can stop by and explore quickly. The temples are brightly decorated, contrasting with the white clothes of the Balinese who come here to pray.

Visiting Pura Tirta Empul temple in Bali is a must for anyone wanting to experience authentic Balinese Hindu culture.
It is one of the most famous water temples in Ubud.
This is a working temple where lots of locals come for religious activities and take a cleansing bath.
Bring a change of clothes and towel if you are planning on a dip in the holy water. There are changing rooms and lockers are available too.
It’s a worship place so must dress modestly and cover your knees and shoulders.
The temple grounds are beautiful to roam around.

1. How to get around
Since I booked a private Ubud tour through Klook, I didn't have to call Grab or Gojek separately, but the driver took me there! The ticket price was also included in the tour fee! 🌟
If you go separately, the entrance fee is 50,000 rupiah.
2. Clothing
I just went wearing a sleeveless T-shirt and shorts, but they rented a cloth called a sarong in front, so you can cover your lower body! There was no mention of covering your upper body separately!
However, to enter the temple, women with long hair need to tie it up, but there is a yellow rubber band at the sarong rental place. If you don't like yellow rubber bands, prepare them in advance😅
3. Bathing
As expected from a temple where you can pray while bathing and your wish will come true, there is a changing room and a place to rent a gown, but in this case, an additional 25,000 rupiah is charged! We didn't want to change, so we just looked around and left😅
The further you go in, the more restricted areas there are for visitors, so if you're not bathing like us, you can just take a look and leave!
4. Note
There are a lot of solicitors on the way out. 🤦
The prices are not cheap, so please bargain! There were a lot of people, so I took the pictures in a place where there were no people!

Beautiful temple with amazing scene!
What a great place to visit. Our guide who we booked with our accommodations was great. He showed us around and told us a little bit more about the water temple.
There’s a lot of tradition here and many tourists come here to partake in rituals.
Highly recommend paying this place to visit if you’re close by for at least 30 minutes to an hour. Make sure to pick up a sarong, a cover for your legs. when we were there, there was a person giving them away to borrow upon entry for free.

Tirta Empul Temple
Pura Tirta Empul or Bali's Holy Spring Tirta Empul is a temple located in the middle of Bali and is very famous. Anyone who comes to Bali must stop by to bathe in the spring and ask for blessings here. This is a temple built according to Hindu beliefs. You can see that the construction sculptures here have a strong Asian influence, including stone sculptures, rituals, and local beliefs. It is believed that this spring is water that naturally erupts. Before entering, we must change into a sarong first because that day we wore shorts. When we went in, we went to pay respect to the sacred objects and get water from the spring to wash our faces and ask for blessings. Or anyone can go down and soak and take a bath. #VisitBali #VisitIndonesia
