Exploring Fall Foliage in Prospect Park, NYC

With no time to head upstate, I wandered around the city in search of autumn leaves. Despite being extremely busy, I couldn't resist the urge after seeing a video yesterday, so I headed to Brooklyn early in the morning to see the leaves before rushing back to college for a meeting. Compared to Central Park, there were far fewer people, making it incredibly peaceful. I took photos for some Cantonese-speaking elders and gave a maple leaf bookmark to an African friend. The experiences under the trees were heartwarming. The maple leaves have turned completely red, but after the rain in the past few days, I'm not sure how many are left. The ginkgo leaves haven't turned yellow yet, but in about a week, there should be even more colors to enjoy.

New York offers many great spots for leaf peeping, but if you're working and don't want to travel too far, Prospect Park is a great choice. For transportation, take the Q Train to Parkside Ave. Remember not to get off at the Prospect Park station, as the park is quite large with several entrances. Although the distance is similar, I recommend getting off at Parkside Ave because the subway exit is right at the park entrance. From there, you can see several large maple trees, Duck Lake, and a small pavilion as shown in picture. Of course, you can enter from other entrances if you prefer, it's up to you. Prospect Park is located at Brooklyn, NY 11215. For out-of-town visitors, Central Park in Manhattan is usually sufficient. However, for New York locals, Prospect Park is definitely worth a visit. With nearby attractions like the Brooklyn Museum and Brooklyn Botanic Garden, spending a day or even two exploring the highlights of this area is highly recommended. The Brooklyn Botanic Garden is particularly worth visiting, especially during the cherry blossom festival, as it offers a more impressive experience than the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx. After your visit, consider dining in nearby Park Slope to enjoy the local ambiance. When searching for the garden, make sure to use "Brooklyn Botanic Garden" instead of "BotanicAL Garden."
