Prince Gong's Mansion 🏯✨
Absolute beautiful and serene place to visit. Rich with history and old time China. Spectacular architecture and ponds. Special religious area in the heart of the mansion area. Plenty of people so can be quite crowded at times. 😎
Presents a very Beautiful example of a mansion of a prince. This place is also surprisingly massive so plan your time well and keep yourself hydrated. 🍃
Rich history and nestled by culturally rich hutongs which are great to explore and close to Houhai Lakes area as well. There's a lake in the middle of the whole place where you can rent paddle boats. Gongwangfu is a national key cultural relics protection unit. It is the largest palace in the Qing Dynasty. It has served as a residence for peace and harmony. In 1851, Prince Gong Xin became the owner of the house, and the name of Prince Gongs House came. The Prince Gongs House has gone through the historical process of the Qing Dynasty from its peak to its demise, and it carries a wealth of historical and cultural information. Therefore, it has the saying that a Prince Gong Palace, half of the Qing Dynasty.
is extremely luxurious, and when you enter the door, you are attracted by this exquisite and dazzling sculpture. However, the repression of entering the Houmen as deep as the sea also followed. Listen to the echoes of history in a sunny corner. Compared with the Forbidden City, Prince Gongs Palace has more small and beautiful features. For example, there is a prayer wheel that the Forbidden City does not have.
Chinese people pay attention to "blessing", not only the emperor for blessing, but also the nobles and civilians are also seeking happiness. Gong Wangfu is a blessing, with the front yard Fuhe, the middle court Fuzi, and the backyard Fu Hall. A variety of bats can be seen everywhere in Gongwang. The ancients were superstitious and believed that bats and blessings could bring good luck, so the bonsai, flowers, stones, etc. in the courtyard were bat-like, and even the patterns on the windows were mostly bats.
The back garden of Prince Gongs Mansion, the pavilions and waterways are winding. Personally, it is possible to comprehensively crush the Imperial Garden of the Forbidden City. The garden consists of a rectangular pond with an area of about 200 square meters and a lake heart pavilion in the middle of the water. The mountain is filled with water and water flows from the pond into three different directions. In line with Feng Shui's theory of collecting money, it really is the house of peace.
Inviting the platform is the highest point in the park. There are two steps at the bottom of the Shangshan Road on both sides, and there are corridors without steps. Legend has it that in ancient times, people regarded the steps as bumpy. He hoped that after crossing the hardships of his early years, he would not have so many bumps in his life, and his career would be smooth, so he built this "promotion of the government." Sitting in the middle of the park for a short while, overlooking the park and enjoying the panoramic view.

I have mastered the art of manipulating the compass and breaking geomantic formations at the Prince Gong Mansion.
Nestled within the alleyways by the Houhai Lake, there lies a royal mansion that rivals the grandeur of the imperial palace - the residence of the handsome Qing Dynasty official, He Shen, known as the Prince Gong Mansion. This architectural marvel blends Eastern and Western styles, exuding exquisite elegance. Its Feng Shui design is truly unparalleled. Embark on a journey with a compass in hand, exploring the Prince Gong Mansion and immersing yourself in the enchanting power of traditional Chinese Feng Shui culture...
🏯︱A One-Minute Introduction to the Prince Gong Mansion
﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉
The Prince Gong Mansion is the largest royal mansion of the Qing Dynasty, once inhabited by He Shen and Yong Lin, and later by Prince Gong Yixin, from whom the mansion derives its name. Spanning approximately 60,000 square meters, the mansion boasts over 30 diverse architectural complexes. Its rear garden, according to historical records, was rebuilt on the site of a Ming Dynasty garden, thus possessing a longer history. The mansion and its garden have witnessed the rise and fall of the Qing Dynasty, hence the saying, "One Prince Gong Mansion, half of Qing Dynasty history."
🏯︱The Feng Shui of the Prince Gong Mansion
﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉
The fortune of the Prince Gong Mansion is attributed to its Feng Shui. Despite enduring the confiscation of property by Emperor Jiaqing, invasions by the Anglo-French Allied Forces and the Eight-Nation Alliance, and various "movements," the mansion remains relatively well-preserved, a testament to more than mere "luck." It is no exaggeration to say that the Prince Gong Mansion is a stellar representative of China's top-tier Feng Shui architecture. Its impeccable Feng Shui, priceless decorations, and meticulous details make it worthy of being called China's premier luxury residence.
◾In terms of location, the Prince Gong Mansion is situated on Beijing's water dragon vein. It is said that Beijing has two dragon veins: the earth dragon, which is the Forbidden City's dragon vein, and the water dragon, which refers to the line of Shichahai, Houhai, and Beihai.
◾In terms of layout, the Prince Gong Mansion presents a narrow front and wide rear, a Feng Shui design symbolizing "attracting nobility and gathering fortune." The "Zhai Jing" even states that a building with a narrow front and wide rear, resembling a "coffin shape," is a residence of wealth and nobility.
Moreover, the mansion's Treasure Tower with 99.5 rooms and the 10,000 Fu (blessings) within the mansion are all meticulously designed.
⭐︱The Feng Shui Maze Game of the Prince Gong Mansion

Prince Kung's Mansion
Prince Kung's Mansion, located in Liuyin Street, Xicheng District, Beijing, is a key national cultural heritage site, a first-class national museum, and a national 5A-level tourist attraction. It is the largest princely mansion of the Qing Dynasty. Prince Kung's Mansion, situated at the southwest corner of the picturesque Shichahai in Beijing, nestles in a quiet and lengthy alley shaded by green willows. It is the most completely preserved mansion among the existing princely mansions. The mansion was originally the private residence of He Shen, a powerful court official during the Qianlong Emperor's reign, and Yong Lin, the brother of Emperor Jiaqing.
Prince Kung's Mansion, as the residence of a Qing Dynasty prince, has a well-organized architectural layout, exquisite craftsmanship, and interlaced pavilions, fully reflecting the splendid and opulent style of the royal family as well as the simple and elegant charm of the common people.
After the fall of the Qing Dynasty, the property rights of the mansion once belonged to Fu Jen Catholic University. In 1988, the garden of Prince Kung's Mansion was opened to the public, and in 2008, after the completion of the mansion's renovation project, it was fully opened to the public.
Prince Kung's Mansion is divided into three sections: central, eastern, and western, each consisting of multiple quadrangles, with a 160-meter-long two-story rear building at the back. Prince Kung's Mansion has witnessed the historical process from the prosperity to the decline of the Qing Dynasty, carrying extremely rich historical and cultural information, hence the saying, 'One Prince Kung's Mansion, half of the history of the Qing Dynasty.'

Why is it said that the Prince Gong's Mansion encapsulates half of the Qing Dynasty's history?
Construction: The Prince Gong's Mansion was built during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, originally as the residence of He Shen. He Shen, of the Manchu Niohuru clan, originally named Shanbao, was historically known for his diligent study habits and photographic memory. Not only was he academically gifted, but he was also extremely handsome, which greatly endeared him to Emperor Qianlong. He Shen rose from an ordinary guard to positions such as Vice Minister, Minister in attendance to the Emperor, Chief Minister of deliberative discussions, Minister over the Guards, Commander of the Infantry, and Grand Minister of State Affairs, while also holding concurrent positions as the Minister of Revenue, Minister of Personnel, and Minister of War, becoming a powerful favorite of his time. Around the 40th year of Qianlong's reign, Grand Scholar He Shen chose the site of Prince Gong's Mansion for its surrounding waters, proximity to the Western Hills, and closeness to the Forbidden City, purchasing the property at a high price to construct the famous 'He Residence'.
Change of Ownership: After He Shen was executed for corruption during the Jiaqing reign, his private residence was given to Prince Qing Yonglin, who was said to 'love his residence more than the empire'. In the fourth year of Jiaqing (1799), He Shen's residence was bestowed upon his brother (Qianlong's seventeenth son) Prince Qing Yonglin, thus becoming Prince Qing's Mansion. In the twenty-fifth year of Jiaqing, Prince Qing Yonglin passed away, and the residence was inhabited by his descendants.
Transition: During the Tongzhi reign, because Prince Gong Yixin played a significant role in a coup d'état alongside Empress Dowager Cixi, she gifted the residence to him, henceforth known as 'Prince Gong's Mansion'.
Destiny: In the early years of the Republic of China, the mansion was sold by Prince Gong's grandson Pu Wei to a church, and later redeemed by Fu Jen Catholic University to be used as a girls' school.
After the establishment of the People's Republic of China, the mansion was used by various entities. In 1986, following the principle proposed by central leadership of 'relocating, restoring, and opening up simultaneously', the relocation and restoration of the garden were largely completed. In 1988, the garden of Prince Gong's Mansion was officially opened to the public, and after the completion of the mansion's restoration in 2008, it was fully opened to the public.
This historically illustrious mansion, which has witnessed the reign of seven emperors of the Qing Dynasty—Qianlong, Jiaqing, Daoguang, Xianfeng, Tongzhi, Guangxu, and Xuantong—and the historical process from the dynasty's zenith to its decline, continues to narrate its history to posterity.

Shichahai: The Night and Shadows of History in the Ancient Capital
Stepping out from the solemnity of Prince Gong's Mansion, just over a hundred meters away, you enter a completely different world—Shichahai. Here, it seems to carry more legends and stories about the ancient capital of Beijing.
When it comes to Shichahai, many people might think of the 'Shichahai Sports School' that produced two stars, Jet Li and Wu Jing, who have now become prominent figures in the film industry. But the charm of Shichahai is far more than that.
At night, Shichahai seems to transform into a rock and roll paradise. The brilliant lights of the bar street share a kindred spirit with the ancient towns of Lijiang and Fenghuang. I remember once celebrating a friend's birthday there; the noise and bustle of that time are still fresh in my memory. However, if you prefer tranquility, renting a small boat with friends and drifting quietly on the lake might be a more romantic choice. Of course, this requires you to be willing to spend some 'silver'.
Speaking of winter entertainment in old Beijing, the ice surface of Shichahai is undoubtedly an indispensable element. We call it 'wild ice skating'. In the past, there were countless such skating places in Beijing, but Shichahai, with its unique charm, always had a certain 'style'.
In a broad sense, Shichahai covers a vast area including the three rear seas; in a narrow sense, it usually refers to the area diagonally opposite the rear gate of Beihai, known as the 'Lotus Market'. Here, citizens dance and practice boxing throughout the year, and their figures have also become a unique landscape of Shichahai, occasionally attracting domestic and even foreign tourists to stop and watch.
Yinding Bridge, as a landmark of Shichahai, is also worth mentioning. This north-south single-arch stone bridge, named for its shape resembling a silver ingot, is not only one of the sceneries of Shichahai but also one of the 'Eight Great Sights of Yanjing'. It is said that in the past, standing on Yinding Bridge, one could see the Western Hills in the distance, hence the name 'Yinding Viewing the Mountains'. In 1984, the original bridge was demolished and rebuilt, but the name 'Yinding' was still used.
Around the lake of Shichahai, there are both Jinding Bridge and Yinding Bridge, but why is only Yinding Bridge so famous? Perhaps this is precisely the charm of Shichahai—there are always some stories and legends waiting for us to explore and discover.

Visiting the Prince Gong's Mansion
💫The last time I visited the Prince Gong's Mansion was more than a decade ago, when it was bustling with tourists. Today, it's unusually quiet. Some of the buildings and pavilions in the garden are under renovation, and the workers are busy. Some of the buildings' wall skins have fallen off, and it's time for renovation🏚
⛩️The Prince Gong's Mansion is well-known, attracting many groups and individual tourists, and the courtyard is almost full during the peak tourist season🈵
🖼There are cultural exhibitions and goldfish exhibitions this time, and I can bring the kids to play next time🎈

Beijing|Prince Gong's Mansion is a great place for photography in winter
|Prince Gong's Mansion is a great place for photography in winter. I decided to take a series of photos at Prince Gong's Mansion on a whim. The preparation was a bit rushed, but it felt very natural!
Outfit: The horse-face skirt is a super photogenic item! Paired with a red top I bought in Tibet years ago, it's a bit of a mix and match, but it's quite harmonious! Next time, I want to try the princess makeup, I've been traveling around and haven't tried a set in Beijing yet!
Photography tools📷: Fujifilm camera; I chose the classic filter, which really doesn't need any color adjustment and can be used directly for photos!
Tips: In winter, it gets dark early in Beijing, and the most beautiful light is very short, so if you want to take good light and shadow photos, don't come too late! I came in at almost 4 o'clock in the afternoon, and the shooting time was very short, and I had to find the light spots! It's best to come in early in the afternoon, before 2 o'clock, and take photos while walking! If you can't make a reservation for the Forbidden City, Prince Gong's Mansion is a great value for money!

Prince Gong's Mansion
You must come to Prince Gong's Mansion for good luck!
Prince Gong's Mansion and its garden are national 5A scenic spots, located on the west bank of Qianhai, the south bank of Shichahai in Beijing. It is the largest prince's mansion in the Qing Dynasty and is currently fully open to the public.
The architectural style of Prince Gong's Mansion is unique, with Western architecture and classical gardens cleverly integrated. The layout is naturally compact, the mansion is magnificent, and the rooms and courtyards are cleverly arranged. It is one of the most complete typical prince's mansions in Beijing. It is known as 'half of the history of the Qing Dynasty in a Prince Gong's Mansion'.
There is 'luck culture' everywhere in Prince Gong's Mansion: there are many patterns of bats flying on the window lattices and paintings of Prince Gong's Mansion. Although the bats look unimpressive, they imply 'full of luck' because 'bat' is homophonic with 'luck'. Come and get some luck~
In addition, it is highly recommended to match red and green, which makes the photos more outstanding. Of course, the proportion of red and green should be considered, such as 9:1 or 8:2, not equal; or use red/green accessories, such as warm red hats, red/green wool scarves or red snow boots in autumn and winter, which are all good choices! It can echo with the color matching of Prince Gong's Mansion, which is absolutely beautiful.
The Prince Gong's Mansion in winter has a kind of quiet and cold beauty, walking in it, quietly feeling...

Experience the life of royal family
#christmastrip
Visiting Prince Gong Mansion in Beijing was like stepping into an ancient storybook. Located in the intricate hutong, it is well-preserved. The big mansion with its traditional Chinese architecture and beautiful gardens made it feel like a magical place. Exploring the different rooms, I saw cool artifacts and learned about how royal family lived here a long time ago.
The mansion had pretty courtyards with fish ponds and little bridges that felt peaceful. The rocks and trees added to the old-world charm. One room even had a big theater where they used to watch plays! The must see is the rock inscription in the middle of the pond.
It was interesting to see how life was back then, and the mansion's history felt alive in every corner. Prince Gong Mansion is like a time machine, taking you to a China from few centuries ago. It's a great place to visit if you enjoy history and want to experience the magic of ancient Beijing.

"The Crescent River is like a dragon in a house, and the West Mountain is like a tiger." This is a description of Prince Gong's Mansion in the history books. The ancients used water as their fortune, and they saw water everywhere in Prince Gongs Mansion. The largest water in the lake pavilion was introduced from Yuquan Lake, and it was only inside and outside, and this place is really a treasure.
The name of Prince Gong's house comes from the prince of the Prince Gong Yi, who is the owner of the house, and the name of the family should be the same as the original owner of this house, He Kun. This is the largest palace in the Qing Dynasty. It covers an area of about 60,000 square meters and is divided into two parts: the mansion and the garden. The layout is exquisite and the style is extraordinary.
Although there has been a lively and not a house, today, after many years, there is always a sense of vicissitudes. The palace is divided into two parts: the palace and the garden. According to the introduction of the original and Kun built this home, many things are built with royal architecture, luxury is amazing, but after many years, the loss of many things can only be seen, many indoor things no longer exist .
Fujian Building is divided into East, Middle and West Roads. Each route from the north to the north is composed of a multi-integrated courtyard that runs through a strict central axis.
When you walk in from the Western Gate, you will see a rockery, like Guanyin. It is said that Hekun had no children at the beginning. After seeing this fake mountain, he was sent to Fuzhong and he was the only one-born. .
The pond "Fuchi" before the son of Guanyin. Like the pool of bats, it is surrounded by eucalyptus trees, and the fruit of eucalyptus is like copper coins. When the fruit of the copper coins falls into the Fuchi, the peace will say: "The money falling in the sky, enter my treasure bowl, the money on the ground is also the bag of inflows and shackles.
