Upon entering the restaurant, the ground floor retains elements of the original pharmacy, with antique medicine cabinets and display cases creating a rich historical ambiance. Here, you can start your experience with a refreshing glass of kombucha. Afterward, take the extremely narrow and slow-moving elevator to the upper floors. The restaurant's decor blends elements of different eras, with old photographs and displayed medicines telling stories of the past. The menu features innovative Thai-Chinese fusion dishes, each with a unique name and flavor. For instance, the Pad Thai-inspired rice noodles combine Thai elements with Chaozhou-style "guotiao," crafted into the shape of the Thai flag for a rich and flavorful experience. The roasted duck is presented as a plated dish, showcasing various cuts of duck meat paired with local spices, blending Chinese and Bangkok flavors seamlessly. Beyond the food, the restaurant's service and atmosphere leave a lasting impression. Here, you can slow down and savor a unique experience that feels like traveling through time. However, due to its popularity, it's recommended to book a table in advance to ensure you don't miss out on this culinary feast.

I admire creativity and the realm of fusion. Especially, when it is not overdone and the result is better than the original. Luckily, at the potong the food was innovative whilst being delicious and not over the top. The service is top notch. Never have I ever been taken such good care of at a fine dining restaurant with such great wine choices selected explicitly from the restaurants wine expert. The attention to detail that went into each course and its introduction was amazing. Service was great, we were very well taken care of. Loved the choice of music they played as well, very fitting with the restaurant’s interior, such a vibe. It's a special experience. I have to say that Restaurant POTONG is the best restaurant of the year. As a descendant of a Chinese family, born and raised in a Cantonese household, Chinese food has always been a staple in my life. Therefore, I had high expectations when visiting this restaurant. Here, they serve progressive Thai-Chinese cuisine with a twist and a wow factor in every bite. Our journey began with a kombucha drink on the ground floor. We then took the elevator up, gradually making our way to the rooftop, enjoying each dish one by one. Afterward, we took the elevator back down, where staff escorted us to our table. Every aspect of the experience had a clear story. Some of the standout dishes include: - Crab Dish: We enjoyed the presentation, which cleverly hid black pepper sauce and sea crab egg sauce inside the shell. - Toddy Palm Course: This adorable dish allowed us to try various parts of the toddy palm that we never thought were edible. - Family Dish: This came in the form of a small Chinese-style lazy Susan with roasted duck and pickled vegetables on top, making for an impressive main course. We ended the meal with fortune cookies, each containing a fortune inside. As we left, we also received a small souvenir to take home.
