A trip to Portugal's Madeira Islands: beautiful scenery and tips
🎈Wow😃, Portugal, the land ends here and the ocean begins here🎈|||At the westernmost tip of Portugal, there stands a Catholic monument😎, on which is engraved the famous words of the Portuguese poet Camões: "The land ends here and the sea begins here"🤩.
✨Oh my, before the Age of Discovery, Cape Carlo was like the end of the world😜. However, when people set foot on the Madeira Islands, they discovered that the curtain of the new world of America was slowly opening...
🎉Hey, Madeira belongs to Portugal, just off the west coast of Africa😏. It is the hometown of Cristiano Ronaldo, and it is also the "Madela" described by Sanmao😄.
🤩Wow, after I went there, I realized that all those dreamy scenery on Instagram actually came from this island. I quickly saved it and plan to check it in later! !
【Three-day itinerary guide】
Day 1: Let’s go to Funchal first😎 and feel the unique charm of this city😃. Then head to the Statue of Jesus, where you can enjoy the spectacular sight of the super magnificent statue of Jesus facing the sea🤩. Then go to the small gate, there is a different scenery here, very suitable for taking pictures 📷. Finally we arrived at Porto Moniz, where you can enjoy a leisurely time on the seaside.
Day 2: Head to Fanarre Forest 😎 and stroll through the misty laurel groves. It feels like being in a fairy tale world. Maybe you can even find "Groot" like us 🤪. Then go see the huge rocks in the sea and feel the wonders of nature😃. Then go to the Sea Waterfall and enjoy the picturesque waterfall scenery. If you are lucky, you can even see a rainbow🌈. Finally, we returned to Porto Moniz, ending the day's trip.
Day 3: Let’s start our hiking trip😎, take the Sky Ladder hiking route and enjoy the different scenery of the coast, ridges and forests😃. But please pay attention to the following points: be sure to wear comfortable hiking shoes to facilitate walking on mountain roads; prepare plenty of water and food to maintain your physical strength; check the weather in advance to avoid hiking in bad weather; follow the signs and established routes, do not deviate without permission, and ensure your own safety. Afterwards, we went to Capelinha de Nossa Senhora de Fátima and climbed to the church on the top of the mountain. The long steps allow you to enjoy the beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean 😃. Then go to Gorilla Rock and see the stunning sight of the huge red rock standing by the sea😎. Finally we returned to Funchal, ending this wonderful three-day trip.
🌊Gorilla Rock: Located in the northeast corner of Madeira Island😎, after climbing over the steep ridge, you can see the red boulder standing proudly on the seashore. The waves keep hitting the rocks on the shore. These rocks are rich in iron ore and appear red rusty😃.
🌊Fanal Pond Fanal Pond: At the northwest tip of Madeira Island, there is a laurel forest shrouded in mist. The twisted century-old trees are intertwined with the mist, just like a fairy tale world. We actually found "Groot" in it🤩!
🌊Ladder to heaven, hiking routes: Madeira has world-class hiking routes, covering coasts, ridges, forests, etc., as many as twenty. 😎
🌊Porto Moniz Natural Swimming Pools: Porto Moniz, super cool natural swimming pools with layers upon layers. Whether you can swim or not, you can go and experience it😃!
🌊Véu da Noiva viewpoint sea waterfall: The same sea waterfall as in Iceland, and I also saw a beautiful rainbow🌈! In the north of Madeira, this coastal road is breathtakingly beautiful and perfect for self-driving.
🌊Miradouro Ilheus da Ribeira da Janela Monolith: Also located on the north side of the island, the river rushes down from the mountain into the Atlantic Ocean, and small houses with orange roofs are dotted in between. The picture is so beautiful😃.
🌊Small window: Located in Ponta do Sol, it’s great for taking photos😎.
🌊Capelinha de Nossa Senhora de Fátima: A church on the top of a mountain, with long steps and a view of the Atlantic Ocean, so beautiful😃.
🌊Cristo Rei Jesus Statue: The statue of Jesus facing the sea, right near the airport, the same as the one in Rio😎.
✈️Arrival: It takes 1.5 hours to fly from Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, to Funchal (Madeira Island) 😉.
