The Portland Japanese Garden is a 5.5-acre traditional Japanese garden nestled in Washington Park. The garden was opened to the public in 1967. The Portland Garden combines Western forms and Japanese elements very well.Traditionally designed, gardens generally contain three elements representing the earth: stone represents mountains and islands, water represents center and purity, and plants represent color and growth. These themes are evident in the Portland Japanese Garden. The Japanese Garden focuses more on the sophistication and beauty of gardening. You can see redwood trees from the West Coast of the United States and plants with Japanese characteristics. Of course, you can see small waterfalls and water flowing between rocks everywhere. The Portland Japanese Garden is a masterpiece of Japanese gardens outside of Japan. It also holds some activities and cultural festivals every year, attracting more than 200,000 tourists almost every year.

Portland Japanese Garden
#timetotravel There's something I learned when we visited the Portland Japanese Garden. My uncle said it was an act of goodwill by the American government after World War 2.
They didn't want Americans to fully hate the Japanese and instead have a cultural exchange by establishing Japanese gardens in USA. It was to learn from each other.
I was amazed by the thought of it and I'd really like to see more places like this. It was so peaceful here, a nice break from the city life.

beautiful scenery near city
if you are staying in Portland for vacation, this is a must see destination. it’s very cheap to get in and not far at all from the city! just a short drive from most hotels and locations in downtown. we went on a rainy day and still did not have any trouble with the location. there’s not mud or anything alike but we were prepared for such conditions. I suggest bringing an umbrella and looking at weather before you go if that’s something that’s important to you. there is also a lot of stairs in some areas and small hills so be prepared to walk on more than just flat ground. overall, it was a great way to spend a few hours of our day and not get too far away from where we were staying. #hiking #hiking #gardens

Portland, Oregon
Set in Portland’s downtown National Landmark First National Bank building, built in 1916, Expensify’s new offices reflect the company’s signature “choose-your-own-adventure” work setting. Since Expensify does not own the building, the design accounts for both the grandeur of the existing interiors and the realities of the lease term.
.
The main goal was to balance the space needs of the clients and the historical importance of the building by referencing the historic details and proportions. The brass was the bridging detail for this connection between contemporary and historical and made a significant impact via two brass-clad, glass-enclosed work spaces which dominate the central void. There is additional scope in the “Gatsby” style break rooms where the same metal is used for backsplashes, unifying the public and private spaces.

One-day trip to Oregon: waterfalls, river views, and secret parks.
🚘 Depart from Seattle and drive for about 2 hours to Multnomah Falls in Oregon, the largest waterfall in the state, with a total height of about 189 meters, divided into two sections.
⛰️ Climb a short distance up the mountain to the bridge in the middle of the waterfall and take photos overlooking the beautiful scenery.
🪼 After descending the mountain, you can also go to Mitchell Point Tunnel to enjoy the view of the Columbia River.
🚘 In the afternoon, drive for about 1 hour to Washington Park, located in Portland, covering more than 410 acres, with an international rose test garden, where you can enjoy hundreds of roses, very beautiful. Japanese Garden, experience the Portland Japanese Garden, especially the winter dry landscape, with very large koi.
There are also several attractions such as the Oregon Zoo.
It is a natural trip worth visiting. 🐛

Immersed in the tranquility of the urban oasis - Portland Japanese Garden!
The Portland Japanese Garden was established in 1963, consisting of 8 different gardens, covering about 12 hectares, and is said to be the most beautiful garden outside of Japan!
As a world-class famous garden, thanks to the support of North America's coniferous forest as a background, it allows carefully pruned dwarf plants, such as feather maples and other maple trees, to stretch freely in the garden!
The winding stream runs through the garden, and the stone-paved road leads to various destinations along a certain route, plus the magnificent view of Mount Hood, it is a place to abandon worldly thoughts and worries!
The garden's layout fully borrows from Zen culture, two 'out of nothing' dry landscapes, using static objects to express the dynamic landscape, can make people calm down, it is a tool for monks to meditate!
Various flower beds harmoniously create a peaceful atmosphere!
