Witnessing History: The Lasting Impact of Kobe Earthquake Memorial Park!
#japantrip
Visiting the Kobe Earthquake Memorial Park in Hiroshima was a moving and unforgettable experience. The park preserves the remnants of the Great Hanshin Earthquake, with cracked piers and twisted structures standing as powerful reminders of nature’s force. Walking through the site, I could feel the history and resilience of the people who rebuilt after such devastation.
The views of the waterfront were peaceful, adding a calm contrast to the stories of the past. The information boards and exhibits were fascinating, giving a deep insight into the earthquake and its impact. The environment was serene, perfect for reflecting on the strength of humanity.
This park isn’t just about history—it’s a testament to resilience and hope. A must-visit for anyone looking to connect with the past and appreciate the beauty of perseverance!

Port of Kobe Earthquake Memorial Park 🇯🇵
Japan is the perfect summer destination with its warm weather and beautiful sunny days. Most people choose to visit the well known mega cities and the hustle and bustle, but there are many peaceful and quiet places to visit too!
The Great Hanshin Earthquake occurred on the 17th January 1995 with a magnitude of 7.2, killing more than 6000 people and leaving 45,000 homeless. Today there is a 60 metre stretch of the Meriken wharf quay that has been preserved to show visitors the immense damage that the earthquake caused.

Very sobering monument to the lives lost. But also impressive how quick they got it going again. Would have been nice for a little more on the rescue attempts and the impact on the local citizens. This is very much focused on the damage on the port. There is a nice neat corner that shows you a video explaining the earthquake and its after effects.....
