Small tips for traveling to Chiang Mai
Nimmanhaemin and Old Town are representative tourist areas, so there are relatively cost-effective, clean, and modern accommodations, so it would be good to read reviews carefully and make a decision. In other areas, there are many facilities that are noticeably low (needs maintenance...).
When talking to locals, Old Town and Night Bazaar are easy to communicate in English. In other areas, I've seen many people who don't speak English, so this is my personal experience.
Tips on drinking! All places, whether restaurants or convenience stores, have legally set times when alcohol can be sold. Also, many days, such as national holidays and religious events, are 'prohibition days,' so it would be good to check before your trip. A large bottle of beer costs about 50-60 baht at a mart, 70-80 baht at a local night market, and 130-150 baht at a tourist attraction, so there is a big price difference.
