Candi Plaosan is a hidden gem that offers a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of Indonesia. This temple complex consists of two main temples, Plaosan Lor and Plaosan Kidul, along with numerous smaller stupas and shrines. Built in the 9th century, the temples showcase a blend of both Buddhist and Hindu architectural styles.
The main attraction of Candi Plaosan is its stunning stone carvings. The walls of the temples are adorned with intricate reliefs depicting scenes from Buddhist teachings, as well as everyday life during the ancient period. These carvings provide a fascinating insight into the history and artistry of the era.

PLAOSAN TEMPLE
Plaosan Temple is clear evidence that the power of love is able to unite the barriers of difference. This beautiful temple was built by Rakai Pikatan who is Hindu for his beloved consort Pramodyawardani who embraced Buddha. Visiting Plaosan not only teaches you about the power of love but also the true meaning of tolerance. Difference is not a reason to eliminate the love that has grown. But it is love that should be a tool to unite differences. Maybe that's what Rakai Pikatan held fast to, until he finally decided to build a beautiful building, Plaosan Temple, for his wife whom he loved very much, Pramodyawardani. In fact, Rakai Pikatan who came from the Syailendra dynasty was a Hindu. But because of his love for his wife who incidentally is a Buddhist, he also made a place of worship in the form of a Buddhist temple with a little touch of Hindu architecture. Based on existing historical records, the Plaosan Temple Complex was built in the mid-9th century. The temple complex is divided into two parts, namely Plaosan Lor Temple and Plaosan Kidul Temple. Both temples have a rectangular terrace surrounded by walls where meditation is in the form of a substation in the west and a stupa on the other. Because of these similarities, Plaosan Temple is often referred to as a twin temple. Each group of temples has a fairly large yard and is covered with green grass. Birds also often perch on the grass, then fly away and return to the roof of the temple. From the relief sculptures between the two main temples, you can see how the feeling of love is interpreted. The relief of the southern main temple depicting the Kono man is a form of Pramodyawardani's admiration for her husband. While the reliefs in the northern temple depicting women are considered as an overflow of Rakai Pikatan's love for his wife.

Small and Elegant Temple Plaosan
This temple is a bit far from the others and I was the only person at the place when I visited.
As another reviewer has said, if this temple was in another city or country, there would be tens of thousands of visitors. Other major temples have shaded this one. Btw. it is still being restored (I guess the earthquake ruined some parts of it)
I found it very beautiful and peaceful. The entrance fee is cheap but you definitely need a Taxi.
Since it is a bit farther than Prambanan, perhaps you can use the same Taxi to visit Prambanan and Plaosan.
The compound is clean and nowhere trash to see. It's very sad to see that more than three Buddha statues were cut and stolen.

The Love Temple: Plaosan Temple 🩷🇮🇩
Besides Prambanan Temple, there are another temple that becomes one of the most famous Temples in Yogyakarta, it named Candi Plaosan or Plaosan Temple. This temple is located in Prambanan District Area. So, if you come to Prambanan, don’t forget to going to this place too. It’s about 1KM from the Prambanan Temple.
Candi Plaosan was built in the mid 9th century by Sri Kahulunnan, what makes this place a must visit destination is this temple combine both Hindu and Buddhist religious symbols in their elaborate. Why is this temple combines both Hindu and Buddhist? because its built by a Hindu prince for his Buddhist bride in Central Java. And for now, this temple also known as The Love Temple (another name: Twin Temple).
There are 2 main temples in Candi Plaosan Area. There are woman temple and man temple, inside the temple are same but at the woman temple, the lightning is more bright than the other one. This place is really interesting, and has a beautiful story behind it, so make sure you don’t missed this place when you come to Yogyakarta.

Today I will share about my experience to Plaosan temple.
Plaosan Temple is one of the temples relic of the Ancient Mataram Kingdom which has a Buddhist pattern.
Plaosan Temple is located in Plaosan Hamlet, Bugisan Village, Prambanan District, Klaten Regency, Central Java, and is approximately 1.5 kilometers from Prambanan Temple.
The price of entrance there is 50,000 rupiah or about 3 $ usd. The temple complex is not too big, when compared to Prambanan. the distance is not too far from prambanan. I suggest coming in the morning to this place, because it's hot. Wear a hat to protect yourself from the heat. there are several stalls selling souvenirs and soft drinks. I think these traders should be managed more in the form of a cooperative or something so that it will be more organized and more attractive.

Candi Plaosan
Termasuk salah satu candi yang ada di Yogyakarta
Meski banyak yang hancur, masih patut untuk di kunjungi karna candi tsb terletak di pinggir jalan.
