🇪🇸 | The Brilliant Sagrada Familia
Not long ago Sagrada Família completed the topping and lighting ceremony of the Santa Maria Tower, so we specially modified the itinerary and flew directly from Paris to Barcelona, just to see this star that has been waiting for 138 years , finally blooming light over Barcelona.
The Sagrada Familia was built in 1882. He is the work of the famous architect Gaudí in his later years. Gaudí spent 43 years of his life in the design and construction of the church, and it is still under construction. Even so, it does not affect the Sagrada Familia as the world It is the only building in the world that has not yet been completed and is listed as a World Heritage Site.

Iconic Church in Barcelona
#celebratewithtrip
La Sagrada Familia, the most visited monument in Spain, recently commemorated the completion of the Mare de Déu tower by raising a 12-pointed metallic glass star to its peak. This is the first of the church’s six major towers to be completed after 140 years of work
La Sagrada Familia’s exterior includes three façades, each depicting a stage of Jesus’ life: nativity, passion, and glory.
La Sagrada Familia was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2005. It is truly distinctive, being the only significant church in the world that is actively under construction

Gaudi plan this Sagrada Familia with eighteen towers which represent as 12 memory of the Disciples, four to commermorate the Evangelist, one in memory of Mary, and the another is dedicated to Jesus Christ.
The entire this project is funded by public donation. Therefore, it takes so long to completed.

Barcelona in one day
#eurotrip #passionpassport
This route of Barcelona in a day begins by entering the Sagrada Familia first thing in the morning, one of the most essential places to visit in Barcelona. This masterpiece by the great modernist architect Antoni Gaudí is the most visited monument in the city. And although Gaudí did not have time to finish the temple, the works are expected to end in 2026, which with its naturist style and the techniques used, make it a unique place in the world.
To visit the church we recommend you go first thing in the morning, they open at 9 in the morning, as there are long queues and the number of daily tickets is limited. A good option is to book this guided tour in Spanish with which you will ensure entry, one of the best tours in Barcelona, and you will also avoid waiting in line. You also have the option to climb one of the towers and enjoy the views. If you opt for this option, we recommend booking this guided tour, which includes a climb up the tower.
In addition, very close to the Sagrada Familia is another modernist wonder of the city, the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, a complex of hospital buildings designed by the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner and his son, which is another of the places of Barcelona declared a World Heritage Site and for which we recommend taking a walk through its large central square and entering some of its most interesting modernist buildings.
The Barcelona in a day route continues up to the upper part of the city to walk through one of the most beautiful parks in the world, Park Güell, where Antoni Gaudí was inspired by the undulating forms of nature to create this park full of of sculptures, buildings and fountains.
The Barcelona in a day route ends in the afternoon touring the Paseo de Gracia, which connects the Barrio de Gracia with the Plaza de Catalunya. This great avenue is flanked by large modernist buildings, national and international brand stores, and restaurants, where you can eat if you have not done so before.

The style
The style of la Sagrada Família is variously likened to Spanish Late Gothic, Catalan Modernism or Art Nouveau. While the Sagrada Família falls within the Art Nouveau period, Nikolaus Pevsner points out that, along with Charles Rennie Mackintosh in Glasgow, Gaudí carried the Art Nouveau style far beyond its usual application as a surface decoration. #mynovgetaway #deliciousfood #scenicspotguide #vacationmode

Can’t think of another church more unique than this, WORLDWIDE
#celebrateit
My Chinese New Year this year was celebrated not in Malaysia like usual, but with a trip to Spain & Portugal. And it could not have started better with Familia Sagrada, which was truly one of the kind and out of the world.
The pictures said it all. The entire architecture was nothing like any churches of any styles or era, be it medieval, Gothic, classical or baroque etc. In fact it is remarkably different from even just any normal building.
Created by Antoni Gaudi, the church incorporates many elements that are meant to resemble the nature, from pillars to most ornamentations, thus the organic look instead of following simple straight/curved lines or geometrical shapes.
The most visually catchy feature of the place is perhaps the vibrant color. From sunrise to sunset, there’s bound to be some light shining through either of the glass panels on the east/west side, casting colorful “shadow” all over the interior space.
Granted, the admission ticket is high, like from 26€ onwards for an adult, and I hesitated a lot whether to go. But I had no a tiny bit of regret after the visit. It doesn’t align with my sense of beauty to be honest, but it’s a truly eye-opening experience to say the least.
Tips:
Right next to the church across the street is a garden, where you can take a picture of the entire church over the reflection of a lake.

Visiting the Basilica de la Sagrada Familia is like stepping into a masterpiece that defies time. Antoni Gaudí’s iconic, still-unfinished church is a breathtaking fusion of Gothic and Art Nouveau styles, with towering spires and intricate facades that tell biblical stories. Inside, the stained-glass windows bathe the space in an ethereal glow, creating an almost surreal experience. Standing beneath its immense vaulted ceilings, I was in complete awe of the craftsmanship and vision behind this architectural wonder. Whether you admire it from the outside or climb up for panoramic views, this is an absolute must-visit in Barcelona! Be sure to book tickets in advance to avoid long lines.

La Sagrada Família is a magnificent, forrest inspired church by Gaudi.
We booked tickets (with tower visit) 2 weeks in advanced but the guided tours were already sold out!! What in the world 🙄, so be advised to book really realllly in advance.
Although we couldn’t join the guided tour, we downloaded the official app on our phone which gives audio guide to different parts of the church. This feature is amazing!!!!
Before our visit, we read about the dress code and thus we dressed quite modestly (no tank tops and shorts) but turns out they don’t really care and we saw loads of other tourists in revealing clothes…
We booked the tickets with tower visit and we had to put our bigger bags into one of those lockers by the door. We were transported up to the tower by their lifts and it was a very futuristic moment!! However, I would say the tower visit is a let down because the church has ongoing constructions and the views are blocked by the scaffolding…
Note: we also had to go thru security screening before entering the church but they do allow food and drinks so don’t be too alarmed!
