Summer Fun|Go Creek Tracing and Water Gun Fight Under the Waterfall
This dam is the largest non-reinforced concrete reservoir dam in China. Climbing the high steps to the top of the dam offers a beautiful view, with a vast lake on one side and a waterfall with a significant height difference on the other. In the distance, you can see lush green trees.
The wind blowing in your face is super refreshing. If you come after a heavy rain, the waterfall will be particularly spectacular. Downstream of the dam is a long river where you can play in the water. On sunny days, as shown in the picture, the water is relatively shallow, but it's still fine for water fights.
This place is full of wild fun, with the sounds of insects chirping, chickens on the shore, ducks in the river, cicadas in the trees, and sheep in the grass, all making the kids very happy.

🌈Scenic Area Features
1️⃣Low difficulty, no pressure for taking kids!
Navigate directly to Pingqiao Shiba, and you can start creek tracing right after getting out of the car. No need for any special planning or long hikes, just bring the kids and enjoy an afternoon here.
2️⃣Clear and clean streams, fun to play in.
The reservoir is upstream, so the downstream creek is quite clear, making it an ideal spot for creek tracing. There are many rocks, so be careful while playing and choose more stable areas.
3️⃣Shiba Waterfall, fun nearby.
You definitely have to check out the Shiba Waterfall when you come here. We visited at the end of July, just after the rainy season, and the waterfall was quite spectacular, with traces of floodwaters still visible.
4️⃣Surrounded by trees, cool and refreshing.
One great thing about creek tracing here is that it's surrounded by trees, so you don't have to worry about sun exposure, which is very important.
5️⃣Free parking, well-managed.
Parking here is free, and even if the parking spots are full, staff will guide you to park along the road. They have already coordinated with local authorities, so even if you park illegally, you won't get points deducted. Kudos to the local management for this.
6️⃣Moderate crowd on weekdays.
It's recommended to visit on weekdays to avoid the weekend crowds. The atmosphere for creek tracing is just right, not too crowded. We went in the afternoon and even found a spot at the uppermost part of the creek.
7️⃣Long creek, high playability.
This section of the creek is quite long, so you can find your own spot for creek tracing or hike along the creek, which is also very enjoyable.
8️⃣Convenient for self-driving, many nearby attractions.
Pingqiao Shiba is right next to Liyang No. 1 Highway, making it very convenient for self-driving. It's also close to Tianmu Lake and Nanshan Bamboo Sea, making it a must-visit spot on the Liyang No. 1 Highway route.
9️⃣Almost free creek tracing spot.
No tickets are required, and there are almost no fees. Apart from buying some food and drinks if needed, there are no fixed charges, which is quite admirable.
🔟Good hiking spots nearby.
While creek tracing, I walked around the area and found some small paths for hiking. Exploring the bamboo forest is also a good choice.
⚠️Notes
1. Use mosquito repellent to prevent insect bites, as there are many small bugs due to the high tree cover.
2. You can cool off under the shade of the trees. Bringing a few camping chairs to rest is also a good idea!
3. Be careful when getting into the water to avoid slipping on rocks.
4. Play without leaving a trace, and protect the environment.
5. The water flow is larger and more spectacular after rain.
6. Prepare slippers and a change of clothes for playing in the water.
