The Ping Shan Heritage Trail is located in Ping Shan Township, Yuen Long District, New Territories. It will pass through ancient pagodas, many ancient walled villages, and footpaths of ancestral temples. The trail is about 1.6 kilometers long. You can learn about the life of the early villages from the precious historical sites. One-stop Juxing Building: Juxing Building, an existing ancient tower in Hong Kong, originally had seven floors, but only three floors remained due to the erosion of wind and rain for hundreds of years. The upper floor of the ancient pagoda is dedicated to Kuixing, who is said to be in charge of the imperial examinations, and each floor has festive and auspicious inscriptions worth watching. The second stop of the social altar: Before entering Shangzhang Wai, you will pass a shrine with a simple design. It is only built with blue bricks, and the statues are replaced by stones. The community is enshrined here, which is said to protect the safety of the villagers. The third stop, Shangzhangwei: Shangzhang is the first-class jade. Shangzhangwei has a history of more than 200 years and is a fenced village on the Pingshan Cultural Relics Trail. Although some of the walls made of blue bricks have been demolished, the gatehouses, shrines and ancient buildings in the village still stand as before, showing the layout and style of the traditional fenced village. The fourth stop is Pingshan Yanghou Ancient Temple: Pingshan Yanghou Ancient Temple is located in Hang Tau Village. It is one of the six temples dedicated to Hou Wang in Yuen Long District. There are many theories about the origin of the Houwang. The villagers believe that the Houwang is Yang Liangjie, a loyal minister of the late Song Dynasty. The fifth stop: Tang's Ancestral Hall: The Tang's Ancestral Hall is surrounded by the three-circle and six villages in Pingshan. The main entrance of the ancestral hall has no threshold, but there is a sandstone corridor in the front yard, which shows that there are people in the clan occupying important positions. Until now, ancestral halls are still used for ancestor worship, celebrations and gatherings. The sixth stop, Yuqiao Ergong Temple: Yuqiao Ergong Temple was built by two brothers, Deng Shixian and Shizhao, the 11th ancestor of the Deng family. In addition to being a clan ancestral hall, it was also a reading place for children from various villages in Pingshan from 1931 to 1961. --Dade School. Today, you can still see the couplet on the gate of the school when it was established: "Achieving good times and being good, cultivating morality in the body". The seventh stop is the Guanting Study Room: The Guanting Study Room was once a place for children from neighboring villages to study, and it was also used to worship ancestors. The whole building is supported by granite columns, and the main door frame is also made of granite strips. In addition, the exquisite interior decoration, such as the wall decorations with auspicious patterns such as lotus flowers and longevity peach, and the golden carvings of "Gan Luo Bai Xiang", are exquisite at that time. work. The eighth stop of Qingshuxuan: Qingshuxuan is the residence for receiving visitors and Hongru. The decoration of the wing is very elegant and gorgeous. From the wood carvings, murals, gray sculptures, leaky windows and bucket arches, you can see the style of the traditional Chinese wealthy mansion. The ninth stop, Hung Shing Palace: The villagers in the New Territories have great respect for Hung Shing King, who is in charge of the ocean. The patio here is well-lit and feels spacious and comfortable; at the same time, you can see the banyan trees around the building through the patio. The tenth stop is the Ping Shan Tang Clan Museum and Heritage Trail Visitor Centre: It was formerly the old Ping Shan Police Station, and later became the headquarters and training center of the Police Dog Unit. It is one of the few existing pre-war police station buildings in the New Territories. In 2002, it was converted into the Pingshan Tang Clan Museum and Heritage Trail Visitor Center, which introduced the history of the Pingshan Tang Clan and the historical sites along the heritage trail.
