During the rainy season, Phu Khiew Wildlife Sanctuary (Thung Kramang) becomes a lush green area as far as the eye can see, suitable for relaxing amidst the peaceful nature. Visitors can travel by private car to Thung Kramang conveniently, either for a day trip or overnight stay amidst nature.
Entrance fee
General fee: 30 baht per person
Car fee: 60 baht
Overnight fee: 30 baht per person
For those who wish to stay in the sanctuary's accommodation, a request for permission must be submitted at least 30 days in advance.
Travel within the sanctuary
From the entrance, you have to drive for another 20 kilometers. The road may have some potholes in some sections, and there is only a phone signal in some areas. However, the beauty of nature will make all the trouble worthwhile.
Tent site
There are many tent sites under the shade of trees to choose from. The atmosphere is shady and quiet, suitable for those who truly want to experience nature. However, be careful of leeches during the rainy season. And keep it clean, especially in the evening when wild deer may come out near the resting area.
There is a welfare shop in the area selling food or you can cook your own food as you wish.
Activities in Thung Kra Mang area
From the tent site, you can drive to Thung Kra Mang not too far. The vast grassland surrounded by the green forest is a beautiful sight. Visitors may encounter wild deer up close and can enjoy nature along the nature study trail in the area.
Nearby tourist attractions
Before returning, tourists can stop by Chulabhorn Dam, which is not far from Phu Khiew Wildlife Sanctuary. The atmosphere around the dam is shady and quiet, making it a suitable place to stop and rest along the way.
