Phra Samut Chedi, Phra Pradaeng District, Samut Prakan Province
Phra Samut Chedi is an important religious site for the people of Samut Prakan Province and is also the provincial seal of Samut Prakan Province. The history of Phra Samut Chedi began in 1823 during the reign of King Phutthaloetla Naphalai, King Rama II. He ordered the island above the Phisuea Samut Fort to be filled first. The construction of the chedi began on October 30, 1827 during the reign of King Nangklao, King Rama III, and was completed on May 28, 1828. He designated a festival for worshipping on the 5th waning day to the 11th waning day of the 11th lunar month every year. The current chedi was rebuilt during the reign of King Rama IV by building a higher round chedi, modeled after the chedi in Ayutthaya. It is 39.75 meters high and contains 12 relics from the Grand Palace.

Phra Samut Chedi...just take the BTS.
Phra Samut Chedi, take the BTS according to the post title.
I have 1 day in Bangkok and want to go to a nice place with fresh air, so I tried to click on the map.
You can take the BTS to Phra Samut Chedi...get off at Pak Nam Samut Prakan station, walk to Pak Nam pier, cross the river to Phra Samut Chedi pier, very convenient.
I got off at Wat Phra Samut Chedi pier, walked through the market to worship the Buddha in the temple, and crossed the small bridge to another island. Walk along the nature study trail of Phom Phisuea Samut, see the mangrove forest, and end at Phom Phisuea Samut Museum.
From this point, you can see the view of the city tower on the Pak Nam side of Samut Prakan from afar. Anyone who wants to go up to the city tower must book a time in advance. I will definitely go see it next time.
Pak Nam Samut Prakan has ocean-going ships and cargo ships parked in rows, the water is clear, the sun is good, it's like going to a distant province. But here, just take the BTS to get there. Very convenient.

"Legend of the pagoda in the middle of the water of Samut Prakan"
-+-+-+-+-Phra Samut Chedi -+-+-+-+-📸🐈🐾
Located on Suk Sawat Road, Pak Khlong Bang Pla Kot Subdistrict, in Phra Samut Chedi Temple, on the bank of the Chao Phraya River, opposite the provincial hall. Travel along Highway No. 303 (Suk Sawat Road). Originally, this pagoda was located on an island in the middle of the Chao Phraya River mouth, at the end of the Phisuea Samut Fort. Later, the right bank of the river became shallow and grew out to connect to the island where the pagoda is located. Currently, it is no longer an island. 😯
Phra Samut Chedi Temple or the pagoda in the middle of the water is a sacred place of the city. The highlight is the white pagoda with a red cloth at the top that contrasts with the white. People generally call it the pagoda in the middle of the water because the area where Phra Samut Chedi was originally built was an island surrounded by water. Inside the temple, there is the Buddha image in the posture of calming the ocean and the Buddha image of Chaiwat, which are the Buddha images of the temple for Buddhists to worship. At the back is a wide area for sitting and enjoying the view of the water. 📸
King Phutthaloetla Naphalai ordered the construction of this pagoda, but before it was finished, his reign ended. King Nangklao ordered the construction of a 20-meter-high pagoda. Later, in the reign of King Rama IV, he ordered the pagoda to be reshaped and made 38 meters taller. Inside are the relics of the Lord Buddha, the Phra Chaiwat, and the Phra Pang Ham Samut. 🙏🙏🙏

Phra Samut Chedi Fair
Phra Samut Chedi Festival is accessible by BTS. Get off at Pak Nam Station and you will arrive right away. There are more than 100 food shops. There are swings, catch games, and a girl falling into the water at the temple. The most delicious food is the Chinese milk with coconut milk. The oyster omelet is also delicious. I must say that it only happens once a year. You must come here.

The best is the famous fried oyster shop, Kalamare, the famous waterfall noodle shop, very delicious, inexpensive Khanom Jeen. On the way back, there is grass jelly with fresh milk in front of BTS Pak Nam. Before going back, you must stop and eat the delicious taste. When I went, I went on the last day, but I must say that there were a lot of people. Anyone who comes must come early. #Phra Samut Chedi is the symbol of Samut Prakan Province.

Phra Samut Chedi
This Phra Samut Chedi in Samut Prakan was built in 1819 during the reign of King Rama II. He built a great pagoda on an island in the middle of the water and named it "Phra Samut Chedi". However, it was not finished before the end of the previous reign. Later, King Rama III ordered the construction of a 20-meter-high pagoda until it was completed. Around the temple, there is a royal chapel that you must not miss to pay homage to the Buddha statue in the attitude of subduing the ocean, which is enshrined inside. It is believed that enshrining the Buddha statue in the attitude of subduing the ocean here will help prevent bad things from happening from the sea, such as storms that will come from the river mouth. Every year, Samut Prakan celebrates Phra Samut Chedi, this sacred place of the city, on the 5th waning day of the 11th lunar month. A large red cloth is invited and placed on a pavilion, paraded around the city and floated down the Chao Phraya River to Phra Pradaeng District, then the parade returns to perform a clockwise ceremony and bring a cloth to cover Phra Samut Chedi. This is a major event of the province that has been held for a long time.

Take your father on a ferry across the river to Phra Samut Chedi.
#Father's Day Destination
Take your father on a boat from Pak Nam Ferry Pier, Samut Prakan, to worship Phra Samut Chedi.
.. Pak Nam Ferry Pier is located in Samut Prakan Market, near the clock tower roundabout. You can take a boat across the Chao Phraya River to Phra Samut Chedi, where there are ferries that cross the river regularly and you don't have to wait long.
.. When the boat stops at Phra Samut Chedi, walk straight out onto the road and turn right. Go straight for a short distance and you will reach Phra Samut Chedi.
.. Phra Samut Chedi was originally a pagoda in the middle of the water. However, when the Chao Phraya River changed direction, the pagoda was covered by sediment and stuck to the current Phra Samut Chedi bank.

Phra Samut Chedi
Phra Samut Chedi District, Samut Prakan Province
Locals still commonly refer to it as the 'Chedi in the Water' because it was originally built on an island surrounded by water. However, over time, the right bank of the river extended and connected to the island where the chedi is located, so it is no longer an island today.
You can reach the temple by taking BMTA buses, including routes 6, 82, and others, which stop right in front of the temple. Alternatively, you can take a ferry from Pak Nam in Mueang District to Phra Pradaeng.

Riverside homestay, Phra Samut Chedi area
It is a perfect combination of accommodation and restaurant.
It is a return to Ruean Chang, a restaurant and cafe. Last time I tried the food, this time I saw that there is a newly built homestay by the river. The highlight is a bathtub for us to soak and relax while watching the view. There are many types of rooms here. It feels great.
Anyone who stays here will receive breakfast. It is a set of bento for 2 people. It is a very cute set. And during lunch or evening, if you don't want to go anywhere, here there is a restaurant and beverage shop. It is complete in one place.
Are you ready to relax and unwind? Pack your bags and go to Phra Samut Chedi.
