Remember to bring water because this game is very tiring, sliding down is great but going up is so tiring. If you want, you can rent an off-road vehicle to drive. In the evening, we walked around Dong Hoi, passed Bao Ninh beach, and went to eat snacks on the walking street. Day 2: Phong Nha From home to Phong Nha is about 1 hour by motorbike, the road is easy to go, spacious. We parked our car, bought tickets to visit, and the more we explored, the more we realized how wonderful Vietnam is. At noon, we stopped by East Hill to eat grilled chicken, the restaurant had a very cool view of the hills and mountains. After resting, in the afternoon we went to Mooc stream, we arrived at around 2pm, but because it was Saturday, it was very crowded, but the water was cool and clear like ice. It might be green and glorious but there’s an underworld of limestone caves and underground rivers churning beneath your feet. You can only visit it during a two-week expedition with a team of porters but that’s fine because there are plenty of others you can see on a day trip. I’ve never in my life seen such weird and wonderful natural shapes and formations as I did during my time in Phong Nha! What’s so amazing about Phong Nha is that much of it is relatively undiscovered. Swimming in a cave opened to the public less than two years ago was undoubtedly one of the best things I did in Southeast Asia. If you’re looking for a time to visit Phong Nha, it’s definitely sooner rather than later.

We had the privilege of just doing that and highly recommend you add it to your to do list. The cave systems that are open to the public are very well built with proper stairways and pathways. Park areas are also very clean and have decent toilets. My personal highlight was witnessing the strength of Vietnamese locals who paddle up to 10 or more people down a 1km cave system without breaking a sweat! impressive to say the least.
