The atmosphere during Christmas was particularly delightful. However, since it was dark and many animal areas were fenced off, there weren't many animals to see. I only spotted an elephant (hard to hide due to its size), a bald eagle, and heard wolves howling (thanks to the full moon). Most animals were hiding and sleeping. There was a rescue animal show where you could see armadillos, owls, and snakes. Arizona's desert climate means temperatures drop quickly at night. I wore a dress for the festive atmosphere and ended up feeling on the verge of catching a cold. Remember to dress warmly if you visit the light festival at night. It takes about two hours to walk through the entire display. The Tucson Zoo's light festival is priced at $13, but the zoo and lantern area are quite small. We finished walking through it in about half an hour. There were a lot of people, and the only animals we saw were flamingos and an elephant at the entrance.
