The Phuket Museum (totally free!) introduces some of Phuket’s Peranakan heritage and history as a tin mining town. The museum is housed in two separate buildings, which use to serve as a bank, and there’s an old clock tower to climb, too. Peranakan Nithat is a place to learn about the culture, history and origins of Phuket town, from the Hokkien Chinese who immigrated to Phuket town to the Peranakan era or Baba, which was the era of Sino-Portuguese style buildings. Because of the distinctiveness of this yellow building, it has become a spot where many people come to take pictures and post on social media.
