People's Park
This garden is really well kept with the flower displays and hedges all in pristine condition. Like everywhere else there’s zero litter and plenty of benches give every opportunity to use it as a space to relax. It’s a large space with plenty of quieter sections too so if you’re looking for a central place without the crowds then consider escaping here. It’s easy to forget you’re in the middle of such a vast city but the towering skyscrapers surrounding serve as an impressive reminder. I really liked the park and would suggest adding it to any itinerary, even if only briefly.

Springtime Nature in Shanghai🇨🇳♥️
During spring time, Shanghai is known for its perfect weather, warm climate and beautiful nature - the city comes alive in the spring time 🌺🌿🌷 in areas such as Suzhou Creek, Lujiazui and People’s Park, fresh flowers are planted to welcome the warm weather and the city becomes very colorful! Some of the best places to see these flowers are Gucun Park, Xujiahui Park and the walking path along Suzhou Creek! Don’t miss this perfect weather while it still lasts🌼🌻💛 #urbanexplorer #citylife #cityvibes #shanghai #flowers #summervacation

People's Park, you are playing with real flowers
People's Park, you are playing with real flowers🉐.
Compared to other parks, Shanghai People's Park has a superior and unique geographical location, situated at the bustling center of Shanghai. Looking up at the sky from within the park, the distant view of ancient buildings and skyscrapers outside the park contrasts with the nearby flowers, trees, and lake scenery inside, creating a distinctive and bright feature of the People's Park landscape.

Checking in at People's Park, playing with some flowers in spring
Checking in at People's Park, playing with some flowers in spring.
People's Park is located in the bustling center of Shanghai, with the main entrance at 231 West Nanjing Road. The park opened on October 1, 1952, and underwent a large-scale renovation in 2000 to accommodate municipal construction, now covering an area of 10 hectares. People's Park mainly features natural landscapes, including the Lotus Pond and Bicui Lake, as well as patriotic education landmarks such as the statue of Zhang Side. When the crabapple blossoms are in full bloom, People's Park seems like a sea of crabapple flowers. Unfortunately, due to the short blooming period of the crabapple flowers, the prime viewing time has already passed.

The garden's spring beauty is all bestowed to the begonias
Shanghai Flower Viewing | Begonia Flowers | People's Square
In the sunny March, the weeping begonias in People's Park quietly bloom. The flower stems hang down slenderly, and the petals are soft and tender. A gentle breeze brings the flowers to sway, like rosy clouds, with the blue sky and white clouds dyed with rouge, the garden's spring beauty is all bestowed to the begonias.

Shanghai People's Park, the legendary matchmaking corner, right?
✅Attractions Guide
The inscription 'People's Park' was written by Chen Yi, the first mayor of Shanghai. People's Park was established in March 1950 and completed in October of the same year, on the site of the old Shanghai Racecourse.
Dry Creek (Forest Bath), a tall French sycamore and camphor forest in the park. Many elderly people gather here for leisure and cooling, with pebble-paved shallow ditches on the ground.
Antarctic Stone, a huge stone in the forest. The first Chinese Antarctic scientific expedition team brought it back on the Xiangyanghong 10 ship and presented it to the people of Shanghai.
Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art, a blue glass curtain wall building in the dense forest. Various art exhibitions are held regularly inside.
Dancing in the Lotus Pond, a lotus pond next to the art museum. The lotus flowers in the pond are in full bloom, sitting here, the breeze blowing, the fragrance of lotus is overwhelming, refreshing the heart and spleen. Under the pavilion by the lotus pond, a group of aunties are dancing gracefully.
Barbara Lusa, a very stylish small building by the water in the forest. By the dining table by the water, many people are sitting there leisurely drinking coffee or tea, they seem to be people who know how to enjoy life.
Xishan Waterfall Creek, formed by stacking Taihu stones. Unfortunately, there is no water in the rockery and ditches, although the trees are shaded, but it lacks a lot of spirit, it seems that it has not been maintained for a long time.

Shanghai Racecourse - North Half Field
Many people might think of the famous 'Matchmaking Corner' when it comes to Shanghai's People's Park, but it's mostly taken as a joke, while the spontaneously formed 'English Corner' is more talked about.
The real People's Park is far more than just a few small corners. This place used to be the racecourse of the 'Shanghai Racecourse', and it has gone through the 'Sports Park' to become the current People's Park.
Nowadays, the park can be considered to have mountains and water (artificial mountains and ponds), and there is also a children's playground, and even an art museum (Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art).
The park also reasonably considers the needs of different groups in its layout. The east side is represented by the playground as a place for children to play, the west side's Lake Pavilion is where the elderly gather, and the middle forest green space is both a place for leisurely walks and also forms a buffer zone between the elderly and children, everyone shines on each other without affecting each other.
In this way, on weekdays it is a rehearsal field for the elderly residents to sing and dance, on holidays and weekends it is more of a playground for children to play and laugh, and during exhibitions, it is a gathering place for fashionable art.

People's Park 👩🏻🤝👨🏼✨
People park is the center of Shanghai, sourrounded by the sky scrapers and beautiful park. A nice place to have a rest if you feel tired in the downtown Shanghai. A lot of funs here. You can see the local residents playing cards, chess, dance. Moreover, you can find a unique dating corner here. 👀
A famous place where matchmaking occurs. Parents come out here with umbrella with profile of their children hanging and try to find the life partner for their children. There are whole bunch of umbrellas, and profiles are all in Chinese, so it would be an even more interesting experience if you can read them. ⛱️
The parks central location sets you up for a nice walking tour in any direction but if you’re not up for walking many bus tours leave from this area. It is also situated on top of a large metro station. 🫶🏻✨
