Good place to go back in time and relive the footprints of war. The museum is very well kept and preserved. Do wear comfortable shoes to explore as there are actual buildings, escape routes and tunnels for you to crawl and climb on. On entering the tunnel, the temperature dropped immediately – it was cool inside. Please be careful as there were some left over unremoved booby traps. This place is quite a creepy because it is once colonized by the Imperialist and the atrocities committed at this very location. This museum took me on a journey through time and gave me a deep understanding of Penang’s war history. 🏰⚔️🔍 When I entered the Penang War Museum, I immediately felt its strong historical atmosphere. The museum is filled with exhibits and artifacts that showcase important events and influences in Penang during different war periods. I saw various war weapons and equipment, as well as battlefield scene simulations, which made me feel as if I was on the battlefield. I'm interested in history so I was very excited about the exhibits. 😃⚔️ Through the museum’s display panels and the tour guide’s explanation, I learned about the difficulties and challenges Penang experienced in past wars. I learned some details about the defense of Penang and other battles, which gave me a deeper understanding of the history of the city. Through these displays, I have a greater respect for the people of that time and their courage. 📚🏛️ In one corner of the museum, I also found a memorial wall listing the names of those who sacrificed their lives for their country. It makes me feel awed and grateful that they made such great sacrifices for the freedom and peace we have today. I silently pay tribute to these heroes in my heart. 🙏🇲🇾 The Penang War Museum is a place full of educational value and historical charm. A private museum complex, built by the British as a hill fort in the 1930's used by the Japanese as a POW camp and killing place. Average to very good is quite a large jump! This attraction is better than average but probably not quite very good…I would rate it good. However, it’s certainly worth visiting and shows the dark days in World War 2 when it became a prisoner of war camp controlled by the Japanese invaders of Penang Island. Some areas did seem rather neglected but overall, it was informative. There are many steps so anyone with mobility problems would experience difficulty in seeing the whole area. The other big problem was the mosquitos so if visiting, make sure you take mosquito repellent with you. It’s not the cheapest attraction in Penang…it cost 76MYR for 2persons. If you go by car, you have to pay extra. If you’ve no car, the bast way is by taxi. There are many interesting artifacts on display along with some quite gruesome areas…the gallows and execution, by beheading area…maybe not for the faint hearted! It doesn’t take all that long to wander around…probably about an hour and a half allowing for photo opportunities etc. Worth visiting but don’t forget the mosquito repellents!
