Peiligang Site, the origin of agriculture in Peiligang Culture.
Peiligang Site is located on the west side of Peiligang Village, Xincun Town, Xinzheng City, Zhengzhou City, Henan Province. It is a region with rich and dense discoveries of sites from the late Paleolithic to early Neolithic periods. It is a key area for humans to move out of mountain caves and explore the plains, and a typical representative of Peiligang Culture.
Peiligang Culture is mainly distributed on both sides of the Yellow River in Henan Province, dating back about 9,000–7,000 years. It was named after the excavation of Peiligang Site in 1977. Peiligang Culture is the beginning of Chinese scholars' understanding of the Neolithic mid-term archaeological culture.
In 1986, Peiligang Site was announced as a provincial key cultural relic protection unit by the People's Government of Henan Province.
On June 25, 2001, Peiligang Site was announced as the fifth batch of national key cultural relic protection units by the State Council of the People's Republic of China.
