Colors, Culture, and Charm: Exploring Pasar Payang!
#solotrip
Visiting Pasar Payang in Kuala Terengganu was a colorful and lively experience! The market was buzzing with energy, and the variety of items on display was incredible. From traditional batik fabrics and handmade crafts to fresh local produce and snacks, there was something for everyone.
The view of the market by the river added a lovely charm, making it the perfect spot to shop and explore. I couldn’t resist picking up some beautiful batik and trying the delicious local kuih (desserts). The friendly vendors made the experience even more enjoyable with their smiles and stories.
Pasar Payang is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the heart of Terengganu’s culture, shop unique items, and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere!

Pasar Payang the best!
You can get a lot of interesting things here. Keropok, baju and all. All at reasonable prices. For me, the freshly made keropok lekor is the star. Keropok kering and lekor yg belum masak pun ada. Baju batik (baju tdo, kain pasang, baju siap) all sold here. Parking also senang ada in building parking just pay rm5 per entry. Easy to go and recommended! #Pasarpayang

All time "Nasi Kerabu”
A vibrant and flavorful dish hailing from the northeastern state of Kelantan & Terengganu in Malaysia, is a masterpiece that combines colors, textures, and flavors in a single plate. This culinary gem showcases fragrant blue rice served with an array of fresh herbs, vegetables, aromatic sambal sauce, and a choice of succulent protein.
1. Blue Rice Elegance: Delight in the unique blue rice, naturally colored with butterfly pea flowers, which lends a captivating hue and subtle floral notes.
2. Fresh Herbs and Vegetables: Enjoy a medley of fresh herbs and vegetables, including ulam (raw herbs), bean sprouts, and long beans, offering crispness and a refreshing contrast.
3. Choice of Protein: Pair your Nasi Kerabu with your preferred protein, such as grilled fish, fried chicken, or tender beef, each seasoned and cooked to perfection.
4. Kerisik-Coconut: Savor the creamy texture and nutty flavor of kerisik, a toasted coconut paste, often incorporated into the dish.
5. Aromatic Sambal: Drizzle the aromatic sambal sauce over your plate for a delightful kick of spiciness and depth of flavor.
6. Condiments: Customize your Nasi Kerabu with condiments like salted egg, fried fish, and shrimp keropok (crackers) for an added layer of taste and texture.
You can also found stalls / restaurants selling this Nasi Kerabu everywhere even if you are not at Kelantan / Terengganu
Price: Reasonable. Rm6 and above depends on side dish you choose

My first thought when I reached to Kuala Terengganu is Pasar Payang! The place that I can buy ‘baju kelawar’ with plenty of designs. You can walk around from one shop to another and negotiate the good deals😂 And I can buy local foods such as ‘keropok lekor’ ‘keropok kering’ and not to forget kain batik as well.. Murah weii😆
