Check in at the temple located on the cliff | Tiger Cave Temple.
🌟Highlight features:
Tiger's Nest Monastery is located on a cliff over 900 meters high in the Paro Valley, with an altitude of 3120 meters. This temple was built in 1692.
📝Attention tips:
Tourists usually need to be led by a tour guide to enter the Tiger Cave Temple for a visit. As the temple is built on a high mountain cliff, the journey there is very arduous, and it usually takes about 2 hours to hike up the mountain. There are horses available for transportation, priced at 130 yuan, but even riding a horse up the mountain is very bumpy, and on some sections of the road, you may even have to lie on the horse's back to avoid falling off. However, you still need to hike down the mountain on your own.
My conclusion is to ride one third of the way, walk two thirds of the way, and walk the entire way down the mountain. Be sure to walk slowly as the road is very poor.
✅Play route:
In the Palo Valley, there is dense vegetation, pure and fresh air, beautiful scenery, and flying prayer flags can be seen from time to time. There are two observation decks on the way up the mountain. From here, you can see a group of white buildings on the misty cliffs in the mountains, like a fairyland, which is the Tiger's Nest Temple. If you look closely, there are also several buildings on the higher mountain peaks than the Tiger's Nest Temple, which are the places where the monks practice their meditation.
Take a breath and continue climbing, arriving at the observation deck, from which you can clearly enjoy the view.
Tiger Cave Temple is also a good spot for taking photos and checking in. Everyone will take pictures here 📷. You can't ride horses here anymore, you need to rely on your legs to walk along the stairs to complete the next journey.

When the Lianshi went down to Bhutan, he turned into an angry Donkey Kong flying tiger to the cliffs of the Paro Valley, surrendering the evil spirits that obstructed the Dharma, and then practiced for a short period of three months in the caves of the cliffs, so it was called here. For the tiger's hole. In order to celebrate the grace of the lotus master, the locals built the world-famous Tiger Cave Temple on the cliff with the help of the empty mother. It is said that the material used to fix the Tiger Cave Temple to the rock wall was the hair of the empty mother. Silk, but after a fire in 1998, when rebuilding temples, they had to rely on modern engineering techniques such as steel cables. Even if you visit the Tiger Cave Temple now, the one-way two-hour walk will make most people feel struggling, not to mention the difficult project at that time. If you dont really get the help of the empty mother, its a miracle. .
It takes 2 hours to walk uphill from the parking lot at the foot of the mountain. If you are riding, you can only go to the rest of the mountainside. You still need to hike for an hour to climb to the Tiger Cave Temple. You have to say that this is still physical. Certainly tested. All shooting facilities are prohibited in the Tiger Cave Temple, so it is a place where you can feel at ease and enjoy. Sitting in the cliff flying pavilion, barefoot feels the warmth of the sun-filled wooden floor, looking up to the majesty of the lotus master, although only for a moment, but that moment will remain deeply in memory.

Zen in the Himalayas
In the heart of the Himalayas lies Bhutan, a sanctuary for the soul. Surrounded by prayer flags and snow-capped peaks, Paro Valley whispers tales of tranquility. My journey unfolded amidst monasteries clinging to cliffs and the warm embrace of Bhutanese hospitality.

Bhutan's Most Iconic and Sacred Site
Nestled in the heart of the Himalayas, the Tiger's Nest Monastery is a true wonder of the world. This sacred site is perched on a cliff 900 meters above the Paro Valley, offering breathtaking views and a sense of awe-inspiring beauty. 🌄
Legend has it that Guru Rinpoche, the founder of Bhutanese Buddhism, flew to this site on the back of a tiger and meditated in a cave there for three months. The monastery was later built around the cave, and it has since become a pilgrimage site for Buddhists from all over the world. 🙏
The hike to the Tiger's Nest Monastery is not for the faint of heart, but it is well worth the effort. The trail winds through lush forests, across streams, and up steep inclines, offering stunning views at every turn. As you approach the monastery, you'll feel a sense of reverence and wonder, as if you're entering a sacred realm.

Taktsang Monastery, Bhutan
Visited in May 2023
We drove to the parking lot at the base and climbed with a guide from there.
You can ride a horse from a little above the parking lot. It seems that in Buddhism, it's a shame for the horses, but I wanted to ride a horse, so I paid (it was 1,300 ngultrum (about 2,000 yen) at the time).
After riding the horse for about 30 minutes and walking up a little from there, there is a rest area, and I ordered and ate cookies and milk tea on the way there. People who have difficulty climbing the slopes are said to give up climbing at this rest area.
If you climb from the bottom, it takes about 2 hours in total (depends on the individual). It was hot and tiring, but the path was well maintained and easy to walk on, so it was just right for a trek.
When you arrive at the monastery, you buy a ticket at the entrance and leave your luggage in a locker (the guide will do it for you). It was a little disappointing that you had to leave your camera and smartphone inside the monastery because photography is prohibited. There are many small temples inside, and we visited the most representative ones (we took off our shoes). As explained by the guide, I prayed and left offerings (notes) diligently.
On the way down, we had a buffet lunch at the rest area (beer was also available for an additional fee). The trekking was fun, the temple was beautiful, and Taktsang Monastery was great.

Tiger's Nest, Paro
Tiger's Nest, or Paro Taktsang, is one of the most iconic and sacred sites in Bhutan. Located in the Paro Valley, this stunning monastery sits atop a cliff at an elevation of over 3,000 meters. The hike up to Tiger's Nest is definitely worth the effort.
The trek begins at the base of the mountain, where you'll wind through a dense forest, across a babbling brook, and up a steep ascent. Along the way, you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the valley below and the surrounding mountains. You'll also pass by several prayer wheels and chortens, adding to the spiritual nature of the experience.
As you approach the top, the trail becomes steeper and more challenging, with steep steps leading up to the monastery. But the view from the top is simply spectacular - the monastery seems to cling to the cliff face, with nothing but sky and mountains behind it. Inside, you'll find several shrines, prayer wheels, and murals, and you'll be able to soak in the spiritual atmosphere of this ancient place.
The Tiger's Nest is an experience you'll never forget. The hike is challenging, but the views and the spiritual significance of the site make it all worth it.
