The West Block-Western Departmental Building
One of the 3 Main Buildings at the Parliament Hill also called as the Western Departmental Building. It has housed the House of Commons Chamber, installed to accommodate the house while the Centre block is closed. It also houses offices of the pariamentarians, a house of the library of parliament. The building looks amazing with its Victorian High Gothic Style. The west block can be seen in the Canadian five-dollar bill.

Canada’s Parliament
Parliament Hill is where Canada’s parliament, house of commons and senate are located. This is a must see in Ottawa. They resemble to British monuments and a combination of other gothic architecture. Being in an open park offers the possibility for great pictures and paying attention to the buildings. Located just next to the river makes it a magnificent place to see sunset and going for a walk. Around the Parliament Hill you will also see many statues and monuments connected to war and noble Canadians. Just next to the main parliament building, you have the chance of being in a balcony that offers views of the Gatineau and some other old buildings, such as the Confederation one. The only drawback for photo lovers may be that there is construction but they need to be maintained.

In front of Parliament Hill in Ottawa, the capital of Canada, the guards are performing the changing of the guard ceremony
I am Guan Hai Ting Tao tour + Global Traveler, please follow me!
(This is the 1774th original travel photo post published in 1015 cities across 57 countries/regions on 5 continents)
This changing of the guard ceremony is held daily during the summer (from early July to late August) and has become one of the major tourist attractions in Ottawa.
The guard of honor for the changing of the guard consists of more than 400 members, who come from 86 Canadian Army regiments, 6 Royal Canadian Navy ships, and 6 Air Force squadrons.
Every day at 10 a.m., the sound of Scottish bagpipes fills the air, and a team of guards marches proudly to the music from Wellington Street in front of the East Block of the Parliament Buildings, entering Parliament Hill.
They wear traditional uniforms, march with traditional steps, play traditional military music, and meticulously perform the traditional changing of the guard ceremony.
The Canadian public affectionately still calls them "Bearskin Guards."

Hey there, fellow Trippers! Today, I found myself wandering the streets of Ottawa, Canada's vibrant capital, where history, culture, and natural beauty converge in a delightful tapestry. With each step, I was drawn deeper into the city's charm, uncovering treasures and creating memories that would last a lifetime. 🏞️🏛️
1. Parliament Hill - My adventure began at Parliament Hill, the iconic centerpiece of Ottawa's skyline. As I stood before the majestic Parliament Buildings, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe at their grandeur and significance. Watching the Changing of the Guard ceremony added to the experience, reminding me of Canada's rich heritage and traditions. 🍁🏰
2. ByWard Market - Venturing into the bustling ByWard Market, I was greeted by a kaleidoscope of sights, sounds, and aromas. From fresh produce to artisanal crafts, the market was a treasure trove of delights waiting to be discovered. I couldn't resist sampling some local treats and browsing the eclectic shops that lined the cobblestone streets. 🍓🛍️
3. Rideau Canal - Seeking a moment of tranquility amidst the city's hustle and bustle, I made my way to the picturesque Rideau Canal. As I strolled along its scenic banks, I marveled at the serene waters and lush greenery that framed this UNESCO World Heritage site. It was the perfect spot to unwind and reflect on the beauty of Ottawa's natural landscapes. 🌿⛵

The Confederation Building - The Parliament
This stunning and dazzling "civil gothic" structure right next to the West block is an office building of most of the government workers. This building is very huge and it was once part of the Main buildings in the Parliament Hill. This building is now called Classified Federal Heritage Building. I was just walking by the Parliamenr Hill and saw this amazing structure.

The EAST Block - Parliament Hill
Just beside the historic Rideau Canal, this building is a very good example of the High Victorian Gothic Revival Style. It was originally built to house the offices of the senators and the member of the parliament. Today, parts of the building are going under preservation. This building is one of the 2 buildings that survived mostly from the original construction. Not as famous as the Centre Block its design appeared on the face of the Journey Series design of the Canadian hundred-dollar bill.

The Centre Block - The Parliament
This is the main building of the 3 buildings of the Parliament Hill. It houses most of the politicians here. It seems to be in the process of renovation or preservation. The view right now is not as good when it is in the regular days. There are aome big cranes when you take a picture of it at the present. This building is also very famous because if they see this building they know it is in Canada. The Centre block can be see in the $10, $20 and $50

The Beauty of the Parliament Hill at Night
It was a cloudy and sometimes a little drizzly day at Ottawa when I arrived. After I checked in and settled down in my lodge I immediately went to the Parliament to see those amazing architectural/historical buildings that are even used until now. The feeling to see i pictures and the feeling to see in person is totally different. The only disadvantage of visiting the place ar this time is that it is still under renovation/preservation.
This is a MUST see place when you are in Ottawa.
